Wow, has it really been two months since I last updated? Ack!
Probably even worse is that this is just a 'check-in' update. No new
content to blab about, unfortunately. That also means... you haven't
missed anything, "Mystery Solvers 2" has not started. Given only the
detective photos are up and that's it... yeah, nowhere near ready to
start. The detective profiles are actually finished, but I'm not posting
them yet. Episodes 1 and 2 are also complete... but that's it. Not
enough for a 'series' expected to be new every week.
So "Mystery Solvers 2" is delayed for the time being. A new premiere
date will be announced sometime in the future, but I'm still trying to
get this started before the end of the year.
Once again, I apologize for disappointing you all by not having "Mystery
Solvers 2" ready to begin. In the meantime, I promise the next time I
get to the site, I'll find some sort of content to add. I actually have
had a number of ideas for a time now, but just haven't had time to
execute the needed work and such. But I do intend to squeeze in three
or four more updates before the calendar rolls into 2009.
Just check in once in awhile. I'll have something at some point...

So the Summer Olympics in Beijing are over, college has started up for
me again this week, and, as much as I'd love to comment on tonight's
episode of "Total Drama Island"... I haven't watched it yet. I had a
prior commitment tonight that left me away from a TV.
You'll forgive me, though, because it's time for the big reveal you've
all been waiting for and anticipating. I... think...
Ladies and gentlemen, this fall, I'm proud to finally bring to you...
a second edition of the hit reality-series fanfic, "Mystery Solvers."
Just like "The Mole" came back to TV this year, "Solvers" returns as
well! And to begin the countdown to the premiere, the new season gets
its own page! For now, you'll just get to see who the detectives are
and get a 'First Look' at the upcoming season. More information will
be coming forth in a few weeks, including the reveal of this season's
suspects and a few other goodies.
The actual fanfic is in the midst of the writing process as I speak,
and my hope is to bring "Solvers" to you later this fall, with very
few weekly interruptions! You've got some time to go find your
detective gear... hop to it!
And with that, summer officially ends. But with "Mystery Solvers 2" on
the way, this fall promises to be the busiest in years here at Freedom
Fighter's Library. I hope you're all up for what's to come!
Stay tuned for "Solvers" updates and more next month!

What about that Jamaican named Usain Bolt? Certainly lives up to his
nickname, doesn't he? For once, I don't mind a guy that's so cocky...
especially when he not only won and set world records in the 100 and 200
meter dashes, but did so by an insanely comfortable margin of victory.
You're telling me no other man currently considered among the fastest in
the world could even keep it close? Despite the disappointment of the
rest of the field, I've gotta give props to Bolt. He's just amazing.
In other news... "Total Drama Island" reached the halfway point tonight,
and Courtney got the boot. I was kinda expecting it, given her pushy
'play by the rules and won't be happy with defeat' mentality... and the
fact that I accidentally got spoiled while doing some TDI research last
week. So I already knew Harold would get Courtney kicked out to tick off
Duncan... I just didn't know when and how. I didn't expect this. Talk
about a double fault. Sure, Duncan and the other guys were picking on
Harold too much for continuing to leave his unmentionables all over the
cabin. But to go so far as to break into the ballot box and stuff it so
that Courtney would go instead of him? And the fact that the host,
Chris, seemingly knows but let it stand anyway? That's low, man.
But, hey, Duncan finally got Courtney to let loose her wild side and they
finally kissed. For us viewers, though, that's like an invitation to be
booted, with all the screen time she got.
At least I could tolerate Courtney (and she was my second favorite
camper, with Gwen first and Bridgette third). Now Heather... she needs
to go, and fast. I don't care if booting her now pretty much kills all
the tension (though Harold definitely will have the rest of the Bass
wanting to see him go after tonight's stunt), the girl just needs to go!
Honestly, it's looking more and more that Heather's only chance to buy
some time is for there to be a merge, and within the next week or two.
You can tell I'm really getting into "Total Drama Island," can't you?
But onto business. This week, my newest review and my last one of the
summer. Still doing a little catch-up, this time around it's a review
of the sixth volume of "School Rumble." Was there enough rumbling to
satisfy me? Read the review to find out! Also, in order to keep the
'stacks' from getting too large, I've reorganized them for the
'alphabetical search,' so that there's now four groupings instead of
three. Makes searching a slight bit easier for you guys.
One more update for the summer, and I will tell you it involves the
'Secret Project' that I'm hyping over on my profile page on
Fanfiction.net. Want to try to figure out what it is? Go see my page
there and check out the clues! Trust me... this is one announcement
you're definitely gonna wanna be here for next week!
As for now... enjoy what's left of the Summer Olympics, and I'll see you
all in seven!

So, wow, did I guess wrong on Mark being "The Mole." It was Craig.
Still, I have to congratulate the guy. After all, he was winning for a
good cause... to make sure his wife didn't have to work anymore and could
stay at home to take care of their kids. A noble cause, but it kinda
makes Nicole look bad if she had won. Not that her strategy in the game
made her much favorable in the eyes of her fellow competitors. As for
Craig, man... to actually have nearly died while climbing that mountain
and having to be taken away via ambulance. Would've really sucked all
around if that situation were a lot worse than it ended up being.
Oh, and I will forever remember Mark freaking out over their journal's
being burned as the defining moment of the season.
Of course, the big news of the week (other than me actually updating
this site in back-to-back weeks for the first time since last summer) is
that the Summer Olympics are on! Because of having to work the night of
the Opening Ceremonies, I only ended up seeing the lighting of the
torch. But that was so spectacular in itself, it almost made me want to
stay up late overnight to catch the entire encore. Almost. But it was
still way beyond spectacular.
So, as of this moment, Michael Phelps is 6-for-6 in his quest for eight
gold medals, and won them all while setting new world records. Sadly, I
didn't get to see the amazing come-from-behind 400 meter freestyle relay
victory live. Did get to see it in its entirety online the following
morning, and it was amazing. And to think Phelps is practically a
local, since he's a native of the Baltimore area.
I guess I can take that tangent to state, as you all probably suspected,
I skipped going to Otakon this year. Money issues more than anything as
the reason why.
Anyway, there's also the fervor about gymnastics, which I seem to be into
a whole lot for the first time since the '96 Games in Atlanta. I guess
it's because I kinda have a connection to one of the team members. Did
you know that Kevin Tan, one of the gymnasts on the men's US team, was
actually a former college roommate of mine? That was back a good number
of years ago, when he was on the gymnastics team at Penn State. Although
he personally didn't perform as well as I know him capable of, he and the
rest of the team deserve a round of applause for gutting it out and
earning a bronze medal in the team competition.
As for the women's competition, I guess I could join in the whole debate
about whether certain members of the Chinese team are of 'legal age,'
but this thing is running long as it is. At least the Americans
rebounded and went one-two in the individual all-around.
So on to this week's update! Well, with the tenth session now completely
up on Fanfiction.net, the full, uncut version finally surfaces here! Go
check out the latest session of "The Year of Rocket's Revenge," which
includes a lot of extended scenes and stuff cut out of the chaptered
version because of self-imposed size requirements and the like. It's
worth the read, trust me!
And with that, I bid adieu to you! Hopefully the next update is right
around the corner!

So... welcome to next week!
Man, has this summer flown by. "The Mole" has returned and is almost
finished (personally, I think Mark is the Mole), "Total Drama Island"
is the best reality show I've seen in years by far (and the fact that
it's the first real animated one is even a bigger hoot), and both "Death
Note" and "Avatar: The Last Airbender" wrapped up with plenty of fanfare
and some awesome action and drama. Oh, and I've gotten into "Phineas and
Ferb" and "iCarly" over the past few months, both really well done
comedies that you should all check out, if you haven't already.
I've also managed to knock some DVDs off of my 'to watch' pile recently.
I'm starting to see the tapering off on "Gundam SEED Destiny," but it's
not as bad as initially hoped. Not yet, anyway. I was a little
surprised who jumped ship with Athrun - wasn't expecting it. "School
Rumble" is at its funniest yet, and all that's left for me to watch is
the final volume. That'll happen real soon.
And finally, I got to watch "One Piece: The Desert Princess and the
Pirates - Adventures in Alabasta." As usual as of late, six months late,
but still better than never. What did I think of the movie? Go read my
latest review to find out!
That's all for now, I gotta get ready for work. 'Til next time!

It's been a few weeks, so I figure it's time for another update! This
time around, it's a review of "The Simpsons Movie." Surprisingly
entertaining with some good gags, but well worth waiting for the many
years the TV series has been on? Read the review and find out!
Not much else to say this week, other than there could be another
update next week. Maybe... I haven't started on it yet.

Hey, everyone! Time to get this summer started!
Those of you who expected the third annual edition of THE SUMMER OF
CONCEPTIVE UPDATES AND JUNK to be starting up are going to be sorely
disappointed. Well, partially. You see, because of a lot of things
that happened over the past few months in terms of preparation and the
like, the planned summer schedule pretty much got tossed in the trash.
While I'm still piecing a schedule together for the remainder of the
year, I'm gonna do my best to at least make this site more active for
the summer. Not 'update every week' like I've done in the past, but
realistically, I'm looking at every other week (or three). There is a
bunch of stuff I wanna get done, so I'm gonna try my darn best to get
through it all. And hopefully, you'll all enjoy it.
To start things off on this smaller-scaled summer of 2008, we start off
with a rockin' high note! It's a brand new review, this time of the
fourth and final volume of "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya!" An arts
festival, a space battle via a computer game, and... a cure for rainy day
boredom? To see what I thought of the final adventures of the SOS
Brigade (until Season Two comes stateside), go read the review!
That's one of many reviews you can expect to see in the coming summer
months! And hopefully, there's a bunch of fanfics too... if I can get
my writing mojo back, that is.

So while the oil in the lamp burns away, another week passes without a
new release on Fanfiction.net. Sad, isn't it?
Unless you've spurned FF.net and are only reading my stories here. That
means you've got a treat this week... the long-awaited posting of the
uncut version of "The Year of Rocket's Revenge, Session: March!" If you
don't know who the fifth legendary is and haven't been spoiled on it yet,
it's time to find out! Includes bonus scenes not featured in the chapter
version at FF.net starring Cassie, Giselle, and Shingo! Yahoo!
I'm almost through 'Pokémon Pearl,' so I may decide to post my team up
on here somewhere. I've been itching for some challenges.
Speaking of challenges... I've really gotta finish the next chapter of
"The Year of Rocket's Revenge." Somebody light a match under my butt,
quickly!
