So, wow, the last month has really gone in the gutter, hasn't it?

Spring Break helped give me a little bit of rest and relaxation. Maybe too much, as it zapped all of the momentum I had in terms of fanfic writing and trying to keep on schedule in order to make sure my current plans for the summer are realized. Could it be... THE SUMMER OF CONCEPTIVE UPDATES AND JUNK: THE TRIAD? I'm not saying anything... yet. Meanwhile, I have to find a way to get back on track in my writing.

I have a good plethora of excuses for the down time, for once. Too much school work (of course), having become a beta reader at Fanfiction.net (don't you know about that?), getting 'Pokémon Pearl' and playing it a lot in my free time (contests are SO much different than portrayed in the anime), and the discovery (no pun intended) of a delightfully candid show called "It Takes a Thief" that I'm catching whenever I'm home early on evenings. Too many distractions, my friends.

Speaking of which... because of money woes on my part, I had pretty much sworn off going to an anime convention this year. And then Otakon made that huge announcement last week... holy moley! Otakon really does want me to be part of their 15th anniversary, doesn't it? (Don't worry, I'm nowhere near in a comfortable spot to be jumping for that registration button just yet. If I commit, it'll probably be within a few weeks of the cut-off, as per usual.)

Of course, given how many times I've gone to Otakon, maybe it's time to diversify my options a bit. Maybe it's time I get off my tuffet and make a valiant attempt to get to a certain 'big' anime convention at the start of the summer, rather than Otakon at the end? Hmmm...

Or maybe my common sense and wallet will prevail, and I won't being going to any conventions in 2008 as planned!

Meh, enough rambling. Major exam tomorrow, so I'm gonna bounce! I hope there's another update in the immediate future!

So I've returned, and this time with a real update! Happy day!

Smack dab in the midst of my second semester back at college, and eight days away from Spring Break, things have had to be shuffled around in terms of my internet life. While I've been visiting Toon Zone less and less (and posting in talkbacks even less than that), I've managed to get into a steady stream of fanfic releases, as I've been bolting through the March session of "The Year of Rocket's Revenge" over at FF.net. (Speaking of which, the last chapter of that session will be up there either very late tonight or sometime tomorrow night.)

Oh, if you haven't heard the news, there's a new 'secret' fanfic that's on the horizon! All the planning's already done, and I've started on the first episode. What is it, you may ask? Be patient... I hope to have some sort of preview up soon. Maybe... over Spring Break?

Hmmm... perhaps there are a couple of other much-needed updates to be completed during that week, too?

But that's the future. Let's get to the present. This update was actually supposed to be done two weeks ago. There was a certain theme... the 14th of the month, a review of a movie with 14 targets. Makes sense, right? Only... it's not much of a romantic flick that's being reviewed. (Though seeing a character's parents having dinner together a decade after they divorced has gotta count for something.) It's a review of the second "Case Closed" movie, which means it's time for the mystery buffs to rejoice and for random characters-of-the-day to die! Oh, wait, lest we forget... a major character life also finds himself or herself on the brink of death! Who, you ask? You'll have to read my first review of 2008, "Case Closed: The Fourteenth Target," up now!

Look for the review bin to stay busy, as I've planned out one new review every month well into the summer! Hopefully I'll stay on track and that can happen. What's next? Stay tuned, my friends, 'cause that's a treasure yet to be unearthed!

A new year, and... well, I have to find something to update the site with this month, don't I?

But first... got a chance to pare down my DVD pile a good bit. Thankfully, "My-Otome" has recovered and found its own charm in the second volume, to my delight - starting to see similarities of what made "My-HiME" good in "Otome." And wow, seeing "Suzumiya" Vol. 2 and the ending of the series' main storyline makes me see why the hype of the show may be justified after all - a good number of things took me by surprise. "School Rumble" Volume 2 was a dull disappointment, but given that the manga dipped in quality at first after overplaying Tenma and Harima as well, I should've expected. Luckily, beach fun and the development of other characters in the cast makes Volume 3 a winner. Meanwhile, I'm seriously beginning to wonder why I hyped "Black Lagoon" so much after Otakon. It's still pressing the 'totally exciting or totally snooze-worthy at the flip of a coin' issue practically every minute.

As for the second "Case Closed" movie... hey hey hey! There will be a full review of it here! Just... not tonight. But soon... promise!

I actually wish I had it ready to post tonight. Because, I'll be frank, I was scraping the bottom of the barrel. So, for you tonight, or literally, this month, is the Original Storyline Notebook for "The Circle of the Digidestined." Kinda similar in format to the one for "May's Awesomely Youthful and Stupendously Unique Expedition." So you should know what to expect.

Yeah, I know this update sucks. But after one update over the fall, I figured this site needs to see a little more activity. I really hope next month's update will be a lot better for you guys.
