March 30, 2007
As I prepare to take a mini-vacation out of town this weekend (with
the normal Toonami programming being pre-empted), I'll leave you
all and the mess of March updates with a review of Volume Five of
"My-HiME." You'll be saddened to hear that this set of episodes
was actually a disappointment, for the most part. Get the full
scoop by reading the review!
As you may have noticed, I have Volume 6, and Volume 7 will be
released on Tuesday. My problem right now, in addition to the
other 20 DVDs or so waiting to be watched (I bought the "Gunslinger
Girl" boxset back in November and have YET to watch an episode),
the adapter/charger for my portable DVD player no longer works. So
while I wait a week or two for a replacement to be sent to me,
that seriously hampers my ability to get that pile down to a
reasonable amount. Not helping matters is the fact that two more
American animated DVD sets just got released in the past few weeks
in "Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends - Season 1" and "Sonic the
Hedgehog - The Complete Series," and I intend to pick up both and
eventually provide reviews for them.
As for reviews in the near future, the next volume of "My-HiME"
could very well be the next review. It definitely won't be next
week, though, that's for sure. My schedule's already loaded as it
is. Perhaps in two weeks?
Don't worry... there probably will be an update next week. I just
haven't thought of what'll be in it exactly...

- New Review - My-HiME, Vol. 5
March 24, 2007
If you're looking for a review of the next volume of "My-HiME,"
which would be of Volume 5 (out of 7)... come back next week.
There is a new review up today, but it isn't of the latest adventures
of Mai and company. It's a surprise review... I'm covering something
that wasn't listed to be reviewed (speaking of which... two more
titles were added to that list today as well).
Today, like Cartoon Network, I'm dipping out of animation to bring
you a live-action review for the first time! But, unlike CN, this
change actually makes great business sense! If this were a business,
that is. Today is the 24th day of the month, and that's a perfect
day to release my review of "24." The spectacular fifth season, to
be exact, which is only the second thing to be reviewed by me to get
a perfect score! Why did it get it? You'll have to read the review
to find out! It's always that way, perfect score or not... you
thought I was that enthusiastic that I'd tell you right here?
Speaking of long days, between fanfiction writing this week and
watching this entire set, I've managed about 12 hours of sleep in
the last three-and-a-half days. Which probably isn't good for my
health... but I just couldn't relinquish the opportunity to post a
review of "24" on the 24th. And that review is without having
anything to say about the set's numerous episode commentaries...
none of which I've actually gotten to watch. So the "24" watch will
continue into next week for me...
Meanwhile, I've got some writing to finish before what looks to be
an emotional "Naruto" airs tonight on Toonami. "My-HiME" fans, I'll
see you next week!

March 19, 2007
Delayed by a few days, here's another addition to the mess of
March updates!
This time around, as previously announced, I've got a review of
"Avatar: The Last Airbender - The Complete Book 1 Collection."
This is the best animated show on American television right now,
bar none! If you haven't given it a try yet, hopefully this new
review of mine will convince you to do so. Go check it out!
So if "Avatar" is the best animated show on TV, how can I
promise that a review of another season collection next week
features an even better show? Shhh... it's a surprise! To find
out what I'm reviewing, you'll just have to come back and find
out!

Ready for an addition to the mess of March updates? Good!
A new review this week takes us backwards in time, with a review
of "Pokémon: Indigo League," a boxset of the first 26 episodes
of the anime series! It's great seeing these episodes for the
first time in years, especially since it's great reference
material for "The Year of Rocket's Revenge." Go read the review
now!
Speaking of "Year," go check out the first chapter of 'Session:
December,' now available at Fanfiction.net! Also, hopefully by
now, you've caught a glimpse at a new Pokémon fanfic in "May's Awesomely
Youthful and Stupendously Unique Expedition!" Don't know what
the heck I'm jabbering about? Well, get your mouse movin' and click
on the title to go get the story at FF.net! Because you won't be
able to catch it here. At least, not for a month or so...
Due up next week... another season set review! This time, the
first season of the greatest animated series on American
television right now! Come back in a week to see why I think
that way about "Avatar: The Last Airbender!"
Oh... almost forgot. Remember to set your clocks ONE HOUR
FORWARD THIS WEEKEND! Daylight Savings Time starts early and
ends later beginning this year! I don't see how this is beneficial
to us, given how the whole concept is confusing to begin with...

Heading to March, and hopefully a mess of March updates to go with
it!
It kicks off with the full version of the latest session of "The
Year of Rocket's Revenge" - the November Session! Not much in the
uncut additions this time around... but it's still worth it, since
all of the material involves Misty and Daisy and is in the fourth
and final part! Go see what the sisters are up to!
Speaking of girls with hypothetical romance problems, I've finally
hit halfway as my new review this week is a look at the fourth
volume of "My-HiME." Same great story, same craptacular dub VAs.
Go check out the review... and stay tuned, because I hope to have
a review of the fifth by month's end!
Don't forget to drop by Fanfiction.net this coming week, as my Kim
Possible fanfic "Big Time" resumes after seven months on hiatus!
Also, there's another project that makes its debut as well! Plus,
the next session of "The Year of Rocket's Revenge" kicks off! It's
a lot to look forward to, isn't it?
A mess of March updates continues here next week with, most likely,
another new review! The first season set of "Pokémon!" Do those
old episodes from the show's start hold up well against where the
show is now, as we approach the anime's tenth anniversary? You'll
have to come back next week to find out for sure!

I swear, it's even harder to write something in this update blurb
than it is to actually update the site! But, I'll try...
One thing I've been meaning to mention is that over the Christmas
holiday, I finally got around to watching "R.O.D. the TV." I
first saw it at Otakon 2004, when they screened the first three
episodes. Back then, I was only beginning to start buying anime
DVDs, and I couldn't justify paying $30 a volume for a show that
didn't really impress me as much as I thought it would.
Two years and a big deal at RightStuf later (yes, I got into
online purchasing last fall in order to help complete some
series that I was backed up on), I finally got to obtain the
entire series and see it. And let me tell you, it was a welcome
surprise to learn firsthand how good the show actually is! I
was under the impression that I'd like Michelle, or upon her
return, Yomiko, the most. For obvious reasons. But, kinda by
force of where the anime focused on, Anita was the girl that won
me over. Japanese or English version, it didn't matter... I loved
how she could be cute and yet be the tough and in-your-face girl
of the sisters at the same time. Anita's now not only one of my
favorite anime characters of all-time, but "R.O.D. the TV" is
now one of my favorite anime of all-time as well! I highly
recommend it, even if you've never seen the original OAV that
inspired it.
From one of my favorite anime series to another, I need to pick
up the pace on my reviews, so here's the long-awaited review of
the special edition of "Fullmetal Alchemist: The Conqueror of
Shamballa!" Go read the review now to see my thoughts on the
movie (again - you do remember the Otakon 2006 first look,
right?) and what I thought about the multitude of extras that
came with it.
I kinda have to push the review side along again, because I'm
at the point where several DVDs that I want to review are about
to fall out of my self-imposed six-month rule. In other words,
I won't review a DVD that's been available for at least six
months. That being said, starting with the next review, I'll
be pushing forth certain DVDs in my long queue to the front of
the line. That'll be Volumes 4 & 5 of "My-HiME," the "Pokémon"
Season 1 set, and the "Avatar: The Last Airbender" Season 1 set.
(Not exactly in that order, I have yet to decide.) So I'll be
busy on the review side for the next month.
I'm also been the busiest I've been in years on the fanfic side,
what with "The Year of Rocket's Revenge" sailing on, "Big Time"
returning, another project in production that premieres next
month, and more! You'd think I'd be trying to make things
easier for myself with my impending retirement.
But apparently, I never learn from my mistakes.

The great 'Welcome to 2007' week reaches its finale!
The fourth full episode of "The Year of Rocket's Revenge" finally
gets uploaded, with as little Ash-tachi goodness as possible!
Some funny dealings with Team Rocket, and some diving into the
past with our favorite ex-members of the Pokémon Trainers'
Association. And it also includes stuff you won't see in the
chaptered version at Fanfiction.net!
Also new is the long delayed third installment to the 'Fanfic
Inspirations' series of editorials. This time around, a look
at my favorites from the Fanfiction.net 'glory days,' including
the rise and fall of the 'reality show' genre.
Whew! After this long and tiring week, I guess I should take
another month off, eh? But, I won't. I'll try and get you guys
something new next week. But at the most, it'll be two weeks.
Good night, everybody!

'Welcome to 2007' week continues!
Tonight, the FAQ has gotten its first update in six months. That
includes opening a new section dedicated to "The Year of Rocket's
Revenge," breaking it off from the "Adventures Series" section.
There's a few other new additions and tweaks as well. And there's
more to come... I'm putting together material for two more new
sections to be added in the coming weeks.
Also, another new review! This time, I take a look at "Case
Closed Movie: The Time Bombed Skyscraper." An explosively fun
movie to watch? Go check out the review and see for yourself!
Well, hop to it! You don't have much time until the next update
on Friday! Hustle along already!

Happy Belated New Year!
Coming to you after getting my first snowstorm of the season! Even
though it's pretty much melted away by now. But, snow's snow!
So, let's welcome 2007 with three two-headed updates this week! That
means updates on three nights, with two things updated in each!
We kick things off with the long-awaited full posting of "The Circle
of the Digidestined." I guess you all expected that, huh? Well,
let's throw in something else...
I got a lot of time to dwindle my DVD pile a little bit over the
holidays, and I'm ready for my first review of the year! So, enter
"Pokémon: Lucario and the Mystery of Mew!" It's the eighth movie in
the franchise and the second one I've reviewed for this site. What
did I think of it? You'll have to read the review to find out! One
question will be answered for sure... this'll be the only project that
4Kids and Pokémon USA will ever have a hand in together... was it a
match made in Heaven?
Enjoy these two updates, and get ready for two more on Wednesday!
And two more on Friday! Yippee, and welcome to 2007!
