(End theme song, with a picture of all 16 contestants standing with Flame Terminal behind them in the background.) = = = = = = = = = = Episode 6 - Just Save Par! (03.07.03) Night Eight Tally: (CC) Yusuke had just returned from spending the day out with Guilmon and Nabiki. What they did together, I'm sure they'll tell us eventually. But I think a lot more of us were concerned of what happened when he saw one of his shirts ripped. Yusuke has just stomped out of the cabin, leaving a partially spirit-broken Amy M. in the hands of Tally and a stunned crowd. Jet heads out after Yusuke, in order to keep him from doing anything he might regret. That left the other six to figure out... Nabiki: (putting her hands on her hips) Who did it? Takuya: It wasn't me! I don't even know what his shirts looked like! Nabiki: They're just plain T-shirts, Takuya. Takuya: So? I still didn't do it. Tally: I wasn't anywhere near the clean laundry pile. Amy M.: (having regained her stability) And I... I was outside. Nabiki: And I was with Yusuke. That just leaves Takuya, Keith, and James. Takuya: I already said I didn't do it! Keith: (looking innocent) It wasn't me! James: You forgot about Jet! He could've done it too! Tally: He was helping me fix dinner. He couldn't have done it because I had my eye on him the whole time. James: I guess we'll never find who did it! Nabiki: (points at Keith) You're the only person who would try to do such a thing! Takuya: Yeah! Bandit Keith did it! Keith: I didn't do it! All eyes were on Keith... five pairs of very angry eyes, that is. But Keith continued to maintain that he was innocent. Keith: Why would I stoop that low anyway? It's not my style! Tally: So... what is your style? Keith: Like I'd tell you that! Amy M.: Why can't you tell the truth and admit it? Keith: Because I really didn't do it! What's it gonna take you dweebs to believe me? Takuya: You're starting to sound like a broken record. And that's never a good thing! Keith: I don't have to stand for this! Being accused of a crime I didn't do! I'm outta here! Tally goes to block the front door. Nabiki quickly joins her. Tally: You're not going anywhere until Jet and Yusuke get back. Nabiki: And you apologize to Yusuke and Amy! Keith: For something I didn't do? You've gotta be out of your minds! But nobody was willing to believe Keith at all. Keith: (CC) I know that I want to win, no matter what. And sometimes I'll resort to dirty tricks. But none this low... I assure you! Tally: (CC) Who does Keith think he's fooling? He did it! There's no one else who'd try such a thing. James: (CC, looking around carefully) Psst... I did it. Don't tell anyone! James sits, back trying not to draw attention himself as the others continue to question Keith. ====== Meanwhile, out in the dark of night, Yusuke has gone off to angrily vent. And to punch the daylights out of a few trees... Yusuke: Aaaaarrrgggghhh! Of all the dirty rotten... Yusuke continues to wail away at the trees. Luckily, the noise was enough to help Jet find him before he caused any real damage. Jet: Yusuke! Yusuke: (turning to look at Jet) Go away! Jet: Will you look at yourself? All of this over one lousy T-shirt! Yusuke: It was my favorite shirt! And I'll take down whomever's responsible for ripping a hole in it! He then clenches a fist and shakes it menacingly in front of Jet. Yusuke: I swear... if you're the one who... Jet: (putting his hands up in defense) Whoa, man! I'm not the one who tore your shirt. And if I was, I would've apologized for it already. I wouldn't be trying to keep from getting caught. Yusuke: Alright... I believe you. Jet: Good. Now, we need to find a way to control your anger. Yusuke: Why would I need to do that? ?????: Because you're making yourself look like a complete and utter fool. Might I add, as usual? Yusuke and Jet looked around for the source of this mysterious voice. Actually, it wasn't mysterious to Yusuke. He knew who it belonged to. Yusuke: Botan! Botan appears right next to Yusuke, dressed in her pink kimono and riding her floating oar. Yes, her floating oar. Jet: What the... Botan: (laughs) You don't know how many times I get that response! Yusuke: What are you doing here, Botan? Botan: I've come to check on you. Any luck finding that evil spirit? Yusuke: Are you sure? I haven't sensed a thing, yet I've already been here a week! Botan: It's here. I can sense it. Botan pointed off in the direction of the cabin. Botan: It's very faint, but it's coming from that direction. Jet: (looking back) Back at the cabin? Botan: (smiles at Yusuke) Why don't you introduce me to your friend, Yusuke? Yusuke: Botan, this is Jet. Jet, Botan. Jet: Pleasure to meet you. But what's with the oar? Botan: (giggles) How silly of me. I guess I should mention that I'm the Grim Reaper. Jet: You? You're the Grim Reaper? Botan: Yes. Or if you're not comfortable with that title, I'm known as the ferrywoman of the River Styx as well. Jet: I always thought the Grim Reaper was supposed to be some scary dude. Yusuke: That's the first thing I said when she met me after I died. Jet: Say what? Yusuke: Long story. Jet: (gasps) Wait a minute... you're not here to... Botan: Of course not! Botan pulls out a small notebook and flips through it. Botan: I'm guessing you got here by some method of time travel, because you're not on my list of people living on Earth. Jet: The producers of this show have found a way to transport anime characters from different times and universes. Botan: (blinks, confused) You mean that's actually true? I was actually biding time before saying that the system skipped over you. It's very reliable, but sometimes we do miss people. Yusuke: You didn't come here to talk to Jet, Botan. What do you want? Botan: I'm here to keep you focused on the task at a hand! And to tell you that James was the one who ripped your shirt. Yusuke: What? Botan: Oopsie... I wasn't supposed to say that part out loud. Goofily sticking out her tongue, Botan flies up higher into the air. Botan: I'll be checking in on you again in a few days, Yusuke! Yusuke: (as Botan disappears) I don't need you checking up on me! Once Botan is gone, Yusuke begins to stomp angrily back to the cabin. Jet: Yusuke! Wait a minute... don't do anything stupid! ====== Yusuke bursts back into the cabin and glares menacingly at James, even though everyone else had their eyes on Keith. Yusuke: (shaking his fist) I'm gonna kick your ass! James: (cowering in fear) Eeeeee! Please don't hurt me! I didn't mean it! Jet: (running in) Hold on, Yusuke! Jet slides his arms under Yusuke's, then raises them up. He effectively holds back Yusuke, keeping him from pummeling James. Yusuke: Let me go so I can waste that punk! Jet: That's not the right way to go about things! James: (now in the corner) I'm sorry! I really am! The rest of the cabinmates were now gathering around the scene. Tally: Um... what's going on here? Takuya: Why are you after James? Keith's the one who ripped your shirt! Keith: I keep telling ya! I didn't do it! James: I'm the one who did it! (cowering again) Please don't hurt me! Yusuke: I'm gonna tear you limb from limb! Jet: (still holding Yusuke) Not if I can help it! Nabiki: You mean you're the one who did it? Amy M.: How could you do such a thing? James: I'm sorry! It was an accident, really! I didn't mean to! Tally: An accident? James: I put on one of Yusuke's shirts, thinking it was one of mine. But it ended being too small, and I ripped it as I tried to put it on. (sighs) It was then that I realized that it wasn't my shirt, so I put it back in the pile and tried to hide it. James then kneels in front of Yusuke and pleads for forgiveness. James: I'm sorry! Yusuke: Sorry doesn't cut it! Did you see what you did to my shirt? Jet: Yusuke! That's enough! Tally: Yeah! James apologized, so let it go! Everyone started looking at Yusuke, in hopes of getting him to calm down. Keith: If you know what's good for you, you'd quit now while the getting's good. Yusuke then realized that it was pointless to continue to struggle, especially since he knew that he'd have to power up just to break out of Jet's grip. Yusuke: Okay, fine. (to James) You're forgiven, but don't ever do that again! Got it? James: (bows several times) Yes! Of course! You have my word as a Rocket! Yusuke: (to Jet) You can let me go now. Jet calmly released Yusuke, who immediately walks off to the other side of the cabin. Amy follows him over, while Jet explains... or tries to explain... how he and Yusuke found out that James was the culprit. Amy M.: Um... Yusuke? Yusuke: (turning around) Huh? Oh... I guess you want me to apologize to you too. Amy M.: You don't have to if you don't want to. Yusuke: That's a relief. Amy M.: Actually, I was going to offer to sew your shirt together. Yusuke: (looks at her) You'd do that... for me? Amy M.: It's the least I could do. After all, it was my responsibility to keep an eye on all of the clean clothes. So it's partially my fault too. Yusuke: (smiles) Thanks. Amy bows and then turns towards the kitchen to find the sewing equipment. Yusuke: Amy? Amy M.: (stops and looks back) Yes? Yusuke: Sorry for yelling at you. Amy M.: (smiles as she resumes walking) Apology accepted! Yusuke also let out a smile as everyone in the cabin finally calmed down and the group resumed their normal duties... such as finishing the cooking of dinner. ====== One laundry problem solved... another at the campsite? Haruka is examining the remains of one of Amy Rose's green skirts. It made up her casual wear, which also include a white short sleeve shirt. But it seems that the skirt didn't survive a run through the washer... even though everything else in the same load did. Amy R.: (gasps) What did you do to my skirt? Haruka: The dryer seems to have ripped the fabric out of it, it seems. Trunks: Looks like someone's down to two outfits. Whitney: That's a bummer. (brightens up) Hey! You could always wear one of my outfits! Rally: Whitney, she's too small to fit in any of your clothes! Amy R.: (reaching for her back) Whatever I wear, my spines have to fit comfortably under it. Trunks: That's too bad. I don't think we have anything that can do that. Haruka finds the page of instructions for the washer and dryer and tries to see if there's a troubleshooting bullet for this type of situation. There wasn't... but there was one note at the bottom. Haruka: (reading the bottom of the page) Because of the unstable proton energy particles used in the operation of this page, there is only a 67% guarantee that clothes will come through intact. Trowa: That explains why only one of her three outfits was damaged. Amy R.: (sighs) I guess that means that I'll have to make sure I keep clean. Rally: That, or wash your clothes every other day. ****** Day Nine It's around ten in the morning and Takuya and Amy M. are out training with Gatomon. They seem content with just having a nice, morning jog, as both are dressed for the occasion. Takuya: Let's... huff... take a break... puff... okay? Amy M.: Yeah... whew... let's! Takuya and Amy come to a stop in an area shaded by trees. Gatomon is right behind them, as he falls to the ground. Amy M.: Gatomon, get up! Takuya: How come? She's tired... let her rest! Amy M.: You'll cramp up that way! You need to walk around. Amy tries to pull Gatomon to her feet, but she's way too exhausted to do it alone. Amy M.: Takuya, help me get Gatomon up! Takuya: You mean you can't help a small cat to her feet? Amy M.: Takuya! Takuya: (walking up) Alright! The two managed to get Gatomon to her feet. The feline Digimon then tried to walk around, as Amy had suggested. But being so tired after their jog, she just plopped right back on the ground. Gatomon: So tired... Amy M.: Get up, Gatomon! It's for your own good! Takuya: How do you know? You didn't know about Digimon before we got here, right? Amy M.: No, I didn't. But the Digimon were training... Guilmon and Gatomon here... are like young children. Takuya: So? Amy M.: I want to become a pediatrician once I graduate from college! Takuya: A what? Amy M.: A pediatrician is a doctor who treats children. Takuya: Oh. Gee... I can't believe you already know what you want to be. Amy M.: I just know that I love kids a lot. So, I wanted to have a career that involved taking care of young children. Takuya: Wow. Amy M.: (giggles) I know you've still got a few years before high school. Just think about what you like to do, and see if you can find a career that matches your interests. Takuya: Maybe I will. Thanks. The two smile at each other. Unfortunately, this touching moment is about to be brought to an end. That's thanks to the appearance of about two dozen Pagumon. Takuya: Oh no... not again! Gatomon: What? Pagumon: No more humans! Go away! Amy M.: We don't want to hurt you! None of us do! Takuya: (grabbing Amy's arm) Stay back! They're dangerous, remember? The Pagumon then begin to attack Gatomon. But because she's so tuckered out, she's unable to defend herself. Takuya: What do we do now? Amy M.: We've got no choice. The two watch helplessly as Gatomon is getting beat up by some Pagumon. Gatomon: Help me! Takuya and Amy took out their transformation devices, which they had brought with them, and prepared to transform. Amy M.: (stopping them) Wait! Takuya: What's wrong? Amy M.: Do you have a nude transformation? Takuya: (nervously) Well, yeah. Why... do you? Amy M.: (blushing) Well, I... Takuya: (turning away) Well... I guess we'll have to go transform in hiding. Gatomon: Aaaaaahhhhh! Gatomon was coming to life, as she began to bat away some of the Pagumon. But there were still way too many to protect herself from. The feline Digimon would probably not even last another minute at this rate. Amy M.: We don't have time! Let's just do it here! Takuya: Alright. (to Amy) But no peeking! Amy M.: (raising her pen in the air) Mercury Star Power! Takuya: (going through the Digivolution motions) Execute... Spirit Evolution! In a flash, Amy and Takuya were replaced by Sailor Mercury and Agunimon. Amy M.: Sailor Mercury! Takuya: Agunimon! The Pagumon looked up at Mercury and Agunimon, ready to change targets. Pagumon: Attack the two of them before they get us! Leaving Gatomon for scrap, the Pagumon go after the two heroes. Mercury: Mercury Bubble Blast! Mercury's attack quickly fogged the area, leaving it nearly impossible for the Pagumon to see. Agunimon used this opportunity to get behind them. Agunimon: Pyro Darts! Shooting a barrage of darts from his right arm, Agunimon succeeded in downing several of the Pagumon. But not all of them. Agunimon: What? I didn't get them all? Mercury: We have to keep trying! If we don't get rid of these Digimon now, we might not have enough time to get back to the cabin and save Gatomon! Agunimon: Right! Time to turn up the heat! Agunimon began to spin around in circles, as fire and wind combine and billow around him. Agunimon: Pyro Tornado! The attack spun right into the heart of the Pagumon army, sending some more of them flying away. Mercury: Maybe cooling things down would be better! Generating the power of frozen water within her fingertips, Mercury prepared to freeze the Pagumon in their place. Mercury: Mercury Ice Storm Blast! A blizzard came out of nowhere, encasing several of the Pagumon in ice. But there were still a few hopping around. And they weren't willing to give up. Pagumon: Screw them! Go after the Gatomon! Finish her off! Agunimon: Oh no! Sailor Mercury! Mercury: (nods) Got it! Let's give 'em a bit of fire and ice! Agunimon: Pyro Tornado! Mercury: Mercury Ice Storm Blast! The two attacks were launched at the same exact time, heading for the same target. It was a risky manuever, due to the fact that they could delete Gatomon in the process, but it was their only choice. With the combination of fire and ice attacks, the Pagumon were neutralized and deleted. Sailor Mercury, realizing what she had just done, fell to her knees! Agunimon: Amy! Agunimon races to Mercury's side and catches her before she hits the ground. He quickly detransformed to Takuya. Takuya: Amy! Are you all right? Mercury: I'm fine. It's just... Takuya: Deleting the Digimon. Yeah. (looking away) I didn't want to do it either, but it was them or Gatomon. Mercury: (gasps) Gatomon! Sailor Mercury gets to her feet and runs over to Gatomon, reverting back to Amy Mizuno in the process. Amy picks up Gatomon and looks her over. Takuya: Can we save her? Amy M.: (looks at Takuya) If we hurry back to the cabin, I think I can save her. Come on! ====== Takuya bursts through the cabin's front door, with Amy right behind him. Takuya: Out of the way! We've got an injured Digimon here! That immediately grabbed everyone's attention as Amy placed Gatomon on top of the kitchen counter. Jet: What in the world happened to her? Amy M.: No time to explain! If we don't hurry, we'll lose her! Tally: Lose her? We have to act fast! Nabiki: (runs to the kitchen) I'll try and find something to cover her wounds. Tally: Hold on! If Gatomon's a Digimon, that means she's made of data. And to bring her back to normal, she needs to regain that data back! Takuya: Data... that's it! Amy, I have an idea! Stand aside! Amy M.: Huh? What do you... Takuya: Trust me on this! This is our only hope! Takuya took out his D-Tector and held it up to Gatomon. Takuya: Come on... heal Gatomon! The D-Tector begins to glow before streams of data shoot out of it and into Gatomon's body. Everyone watches in amazement as Gatomon slowly comes back to life. Gatomon: (slowly sitting up) Wha? What happened? Takuya: Yes! It worked! Amy M.: Amazing! What a miracle! Tally: I knew that would work! Great job, Takuya! The group breathes a heavy sigh of relief now that Gatomon is safe. ====== A little later on, Takuya is sitting out on the porch outside. Suddenly, he hears the door open behind him. Amy M.: May I join you? Takuya: Sure. Amy sits down next to Takuya. Amy M.: You okay? Takuya: Yeah... I guess I just feel helpless for not jumping in and protecting Gatomon before the Pagumon got to her. She wouldn't have gotten in that condition if I would've reacted quickly! Amy M.: I was there with you, you know. I feel just as guilty as you do. Takuya: (nods, then stands up) We need to figure out what's going on. Why are these Pagumon suddenly attacking us? And at random? Amy M.: You don't think it's just common instinct? That they're just protecting their territory? Takuya: I don't know, Amy. I thought that at first. But now... I'm not so sure. ====== Night Nine Tally: (with her face in the camera) One reason why I rarely drink. She moves away and we see Jet fall backwards on the ground... and laugh about it. The two of them are currently outside of the cabin, near but not on the porch. Tally: (sighs) I still can't believe you found that just lying around. Jet: (still lying down) People can be careless. Tally: (shakes her head) I don't believe this. Amy comes out of the cabin and takes a look at Jet. Amy M.: Maybe I should give you a check-up. You don't look so well. Jet: (sits up) I'm fine-al! Jet then plops right back down... and promptly falls asleep, snoring and all. Tally and Amy try to wake Jet, but their efforts fail. Amy M.: I guess we should let him sleep. Tally: But not out here. Not with all the wild Digimon. Amy M.: (heading back inside) I'll get some of the guys to help us. ****** Day Ten Things at the campsite have been rather quiet, with them now lived through two straight days without a challenge. Rini: I'm tired of sleeping on the ground! When can we have another challenge? Yugi: I actually like it out here. It's pretty peaceful. Whitney: I don't mind the countryside either. I just don't like sleeping on the ground. Trunks: I want to put some decent food in my stomach! Nabiki: Are you saying the food we're cooking isn't good? Haruka: (from behind the water tank) Did any of you see this yet? She pulls off a piece of paper that was taped to the back of the tank. She hands it to Yugi, who reads it aloud. Yugi: Roommate challenge today at 11 a.m. on the Challenge Field. Today's game requires dexterity, a good eye, and patience to win. Rini: Looks like I've got my wish! Let's go! ====== The sixteen Roomies gather at the Challenge Field, where they find Tenchi waiting. Behind him is a virtual reality setup... as well as a souped-up version of a popular gaming system. Yugi: Wow! A Super Famicom! Keith: You mean a Super Nintendo, don't you? Jet: (to Tenchi) We're playing video games? Tenchi: Yep. Thanks to Nintendo and Washu's inventiveness, today's challenge will allow you to personally get into today's game. But to get into the groove, you will have to meet the star of the game. And here he is! The star comes out from behind the screen, riding a Warp Star. It's a small pink creature known by most fans as Kirby. Kirby: (waving hello) Hiiiiiiiii! Nabiki: What creature is that? Amy R.: That's something you don't see everyday. Tenchi: Guys, meet the star of today's game... Kirby! Keith: That little puffball? You're kidding, right? Tenchi: I'm kidding not! Today, you will be playing a virtual reality version of the hit game 'Kirby's Dream Course.' It combines the loveable and cuddly characters of the Kirby games with the sporting game of golf! Rally: Golf? That's an old man's game! Jet: Are you calling me old? Tenchi: Now, I'm guessing that many of you have never played this game before, so a tutorial is needed. That will be done by the VR system, which will teach you the basics and then allow you to practice your skills on two real holes from the game. Two easy holes, that is. Later on, I'll discuss the actual rules of the challenge. But for now... let's settle on learning the game mechanics. ====== [Team Assignments: Red - James and Jet Blue - Nabiki and Whitney Yellow - Takuya and Trowa Green - Haruka and Yusuke Orange - Amy M. and Rally Violet - Trunks and Yugi Black - Keith and Rini White - Amy R. and Tally] Slipping on the VR helmets, the teams practice and try to learn the game in the small amount of time (30 minutes) that Tenchi is giving them. Kirby: (sleeping soundly) Zzzzzzzz... Trunks: Where's the hole? Yugi: Weren't you paying attention to the 'game rules' sequence? You have to destroy all the monsters on the field. When there's only one monster on the field, it turns into the hole. Trunks: Oh... I get it. Amy R.: I love this game already! Everything's so cute! Tally: Admiring the scenery is okay, as long as you make this putt! Amy attempts to sink the ball (Kirby), but she uses too much power, and Kirby bounces off the lip of the cup and then past it. Trowa: This isn't so bad. Trowa sinks the ball, clearing the hole. Takuya: This seems easy enough. We'll win this, no sweat! ====== After the practice session, everyone takes off their VR helmets to hear the 'Roomies' game rules from Tenchi. Tenchi: You will be playing on just one course, which consists of eight holes. To win the challenge, you must complete the course while using the least number of shots. In case of any ties, they will be broken by speed, with the fastest team winning the tiebreaker. We will be going in alternate-shot format. That means that one person will hit the ball, then the other, and so on. Tenchi pulls out the dreaded draw hat, this time filled with eight white poker chips. Each has a number. Tenchi: We need to do two draws. We need to determine which course you'll all play on, and then the order in which the teams will play. Yusuke and Haruka, since you two won the previous roommate challenge, one of you needs to come up and draw a number from the hat without looking. Yusuke: (walking up) Is there anything I should know about the numbers? Tenchi: Yeah. The higher the number, the harder the course. Yusuke looks away as he reaches in with his left hand. He pulls out one of the chips and shows it to Tenchi. Yusuke: I drew 3. So Course 3, huh? Tenchi: Yep. A decent course... not too hard. Now, put the chip in. I'll shake the contents and you'll draw again... this time for the order in which your team will go. Yusuke does as he is told and draws a chip. This time, it reads 5. Yusuke: Number 5. So we're the fifth team to start. The other teams proceed to draw. [Start Order: Violet, Yellow, Red, Orange, Green, Blue, White, Black] Tenchi: A few other notes before we begin. In the actual game, you're are given four tomatoes as life points and three lives. Every shot you take costs you a tomato, but every time you destroy a monster or sink a hole, you get a tomato. Get a hole-in-one, and you get an extra life. But today, each team only gets one life. So if you run out of tomatoes or Kirby drops off the course, the game is over for your team. So be warned! ====== [Roommate Challenge 2: VR Kirby's Dream Course] Kirby appears again, sucking a flame monster into his mouth and absorbing its powers to become... Fire Kirby! Meanwhile, all of the teams are strapped in. Trunks is ready to tee off, with Yugi by his side. Tenchi: The violet team will start first. Each successive team begins as soon as the team ahead of them finishes the first hole. Also, only one team can be on a hole at a time. Each team's timer runs continuously, except between holes. With all that said... let the golf tournament begin! Course Three of the game is booted up onto the virtual screen, as Yugi tries to help Trunks get his aim for the first monster correct. Yugi: One tick to the right, normal shot, and 80 percent power. It has to be an air shot, too. Trunks tees off and just makes it onto the first platform, rolling until it knocks out the first monster. Trunks: Alright Yugi, you're up! Yugi prepares another air shot to get up to the second platform. He manages to get up easily, but his ball rolls so much that it stops just inches from the cliff face of the third and final platform. Trunks: How do we get up there now? Yugi: You're going to have to putt backwards so that's there room for me to shoot up there. A putt by Trunks and an air shot by Yugi knocks out the second monster, revealing the first hole for them. Trunks putts it in from about 10 feet. Trunks: This has got to be the lamest thing ever. Yugi: Well, at least we made it through the first hole. [Violet Score (through 1): 5] ====== [Challenge Fast Forward] (Hole 1) The other teams attack the opening hole in a similar fashion... each using timed air shots to get to the next platform. Most teams avoid Yugi's mistake and sink in four. The exceptions... Red and Black, who needed to 2-putt to get in the hole. [Through 1: Blue, Yellow, Green, Orange, and White - 4, Red, Violet, and Black - 5] (Hole 2) With conveyor belts, warp squares, and tomato-takers all around, extreme care has to be taken care at this hole. Luckily, avoiding most of them is rather easy, as almost all teams destroy one monster and reach the putting platform, which has a total of three altogether. Each has a different power... left makes Kirby fly, center gives Kirby a parasol, and right lets Kirby become an electric ball. Only one team lands in the right position to sink on shot number two... that's the Orange team. Mostly everyone else takes three shots, with Yellow needing four because of shooting past the hole. Having two-putted with the hole visible, they are left with two tomatoes. [Through 2: OR - 6, BL, G, and W - 7, Y, R, V, and BK - 8] (Hole 3) This hole a bit tricky, especially getting around Wispy after taking out the first enemy. Although hard, it is possible to sink this hole in two, but no one finds a way to do it. Seven of the eight teams reveal the hole after two, but only five of them sink on the next putt. The bump in the middle of the putting square proves difficult for Blue and Yellow, who two-putt, and Black, who after missing the two-putts, runs out of tomatoes and is therefore eliminated. [Through 3: OR - 9, G and W - 10, BL, R, and V - 11, Y - 12, BK - out] (Hole 4) With Kracko waiting at the end of a conveyor belt, teams have to be very careful where Kirby stops to avoid losing a tomato here. Spinning squares in the far pit with the squid monster may increase one's time. People who play conservatively end up choosing the wrong strategy, as Violet finds out... using one tomato to just position themselves and then missing their only chance to stay alive. As for the other teams, three are lucky enough to sink in four (Yellow, Blue, and Green), while the others settle for five, or in Orange's case thanks to a miscue, six. [Through 4: G - 14, OR, W, and BL - 15, R and Y - 16, V and BK - out] (Hole 5) Here's a chance to gain back one or two tomatoes for the rest of the course... if they can avoid sinking in the pool or getting pushed off line by the directional grass field. The three rock monsters sitting on the slope can all be destroyed with one shot, with the right angle and use of powers. Only one team figures that out... Red, and by a lucky shot by Jet. As a result, they are the only team that manages to finish the hole in three. The norm seems to be four shots for three of the five other teams. One team, Yellow, squeezes by with five. But on the other hand... [End Challenge Fast Forward] Whitney stands at the foot of the steep incline, ready to hit her team's opening shot for the fifth hole. She aims Kirby right at the first rock monster. Whitney: (hits the ball) There! Kirby rolls up the incline, taking out the first monster, than the second up at the top of the slope. But instead of curving and coming back down towards the third rock monster, Kirby continues to roll off the top of the slope and off of the playing field. Whitney: Too much, too much! Kirby rolls off the screen and out of bounds, ending the game. [Through 5: G - 18, OR, W, and R - 19, Y - 21, BL, V, and BK - out] ====== Resuming the challenge in real time... we are now on Hole 6, which is has two air vents on either side of a floating monster. There are four in total on the hole. The white team of Amy Rose and Tally were up, the last team to attempt this hole. Amy Rose is to lead off on this hole, and is about to hit when Tally stops her. Tally: Hold on Amy... I've got an idea. Tally whispers to Amy, then has her turn her shot 180 degrees around, right at a different enemy and a Whispy Woods behind that. Tally: Make this putt and we've got the lead! Using full power, Amy shoots, goes through the enemy and bounces back off of Whispy. Kirby rolls back down, taking out the second enemy and then heading over the two vents, skipping a floating monster in the process. Past the second vent stands a third monster, which Kirby floats over and bounces up to the incline nearby. It rolls up slightly, then comes back down. Kirby then takes out the third, revealing the hole between the vents. With little power left, Kirby floats slowly over the vent until it's directly over the hole... which it promptly falls into. The 'Hole in One' sign flashes on screen as two teammates celebrate. Amy R.: Yeah! I did it! Tally: I told you it would work! [Through 6: W - 20, G - 21, OR - 22, R and Y - 24, BL, V, and BK - out] ====== Hole 7 turns out to be the toughest hole on the course, thanks to the giant pool of water in the center of the platform. Getting across the water was easy if you take out the snowman monster first, which all but the Green team did. The teams then spread their targets to the other three monsters around. Sad to say, some misjudged shots and couldn't get Kirby out of the water. Only three teams would survive to move to the eighth and final hole. Best score on the hole by the survivors... a four by Amy M. and Rally (Orange). [Through 7: W and OR - 26, Y - 29, G, R, BL, V, and BK - out] ====== Approaching the course's final hole, Amy Rose and Tally are the last team to finish. Orange and Yellow have already finished the hole, but they do not know how well they did yet. Tally lines up to take the first shot. Hole 8 has four normal monsters. The tee is right above an empty lake bed, but there's a switch on the other side that turns the water on. Tally: Alright, over the ditch we go! Tally does hit Kirby over the ditch and gets to the other side. Kirby hops over the 'fill/unfill water' switch and continues on to a trampoline and then down a hill to one monster and a warp space. The warp space takes Kirby back to downhill section near the tee, where it rolls down and takes out monster number two. It goes into the lake bed and tries to get out on the other side to get the number three, but Kirby no longer has the momentum to do so. Amy Rose continued by getting up over the hill and taking out number three, revealing the hole planted into an uphill slope. This is where they would struggle for, as after Tally putts them into position to sink it in four, Amy doesn't get Kirby up the hill enough to get into the hole. Tally sinks it on her shot and they have to settle for five. As for the other teams... Yellow did not make it to the end of the hole, while the Orange team thought ahead and carefully planned out their shots. Amy Mizuno thought of that, and by filling the lake and using Ice Kirby, Orange only needed three shots to finish... and win. [Final Scores: OR - 29, W - 31, Y, G, R, BL, V, and BK - out] One Kirby multiplies into three. The three then dance around, doing cartwheels and the like, all while staying in sync with each other. This signifies that the course has been completed. ====== With all of the VR helmets off, Tenchi announces the final results, using the scoreboard as a helper. Tenchi: First of all, great job by all of you. Although this is the third course, you see that it is one of the highest scoring ones in the game because of all of the technical obstacles you have to avoid. Only two teams managed to finish the entire course. With a score of 29, the winners of today's challenge are Amy and Rally of the Orange Team. Amy and Rally get a round of applause from the rest of their fellow Roomies. Tenchi: Updated scoreboard is here behind me. Amy Mizuno extends her lead slightly thanks to winning this challenge. (smiles) And Trowa... Trowa's finally on the board with his team's third place finish! Everyone applauds Trowa, including his teammate Takuya, for making it to the final hole to finish third. Tenchi: Good work from all of you. Can you believe it? We're officialy one-fourth of the way through the game already. You guys can head back, and I'll see you next time. Whether happy or sad, spirits are high among the Roomies as they make the trek back to their homes... either the cabin or the campsite. ========================= End Episode Six ========================= Tenchi: (VO) On the next episode of Roomies... Jet: I've got a bad feeling about this. Tenchi: (VO) Digimon attack the campsite... and the Roomies flee for their lives... Trunks: I'm not running! Trunks turns around to face the attacking Digimon as he begins to power up. James: (pushing Nabiki forward) Do something! Nabiki: Why me? You're the man here! James: (shaking, frightened) You're more a man than I'll ever be! Tenchi: (VO) The gang tries to come up with an explanation for it all... Yusuke: Botan was right. There is an evil spirit around here. Yugi: (CC) I'm thinking about tapping into the power of my Millennium Puzzle... but I don't want anyone to think I'm weird. Tenchi: (VO) Actually Yugi... someone's beaten you to that... Tally: It's just like it was with Takato and the others! Agunimon is trading punches with the Kabuterimon. Yusuke: You mean he's actually talking to the Digimon, and it's talking back? Rally: Who's side is he on anyway? Tenchi: (VO) But will all the worries about Digimon prevent the group from performing well in our adaptation of the Great Trailmon Race? Angemon: Hey! That's my line! Keith: (kicking the side) Come on, you piece of junk! Buffalo, one of the Trailmon, pushes along the track when a second rider jumps on his back. Buffalo: I only have room for one! Get your own Trailmon! Tenchi: (VO) The race is on... here on Roomies, next time! Yusuke: It's much more exciting when you play it in slow mo. ==================== Additional Author's Notes ==================== Well, by now, you realize that this season's subplot has been revealed. In Roomies 1, it was Tai's interactions with Whitney in order to get Sora some presents. Last season in Okayama, we remained on the romantic side and focused on Duo and Melfina's relationship. This season... well, we've moved off the romantic spin and taken a more action-adventury approach. It has been hinted at in the first five episodes, but beginning with Botan's appearance in this one, the plot really begins to thicken. Expect the ride to the halfway mark to get a little bumpy, as more secret identities are revealed and the Digimon problem turns deadly serious. 'Kirby's Dream Course' is a really, really fun game. It's the only game starring Kirby that I've actually played. I'm not really a golf fan either, but it's fun games like this and 'Mario Golf' that add a whole exciting twist to it all. Oh, and what happened to those staying at the campsite on Day 9? Well, I've decided to reserve that for the next Uncut Session. There are some nice scenes in there that you'll enjoy as well. ========================= For the Fans ========================= Episode 7 is coming on Tuesday, and it features this season's second cameo! Who will be alongside our competitors in the Great Trailmon Race? Come back on Tuesday and find out for yourself!
