Hello all! I’m Freedom Fighter. This is my first fanfic to be posted on Fanfiction.net. For those of you who don’t know my style of writing, you’ll get used to it real quick. I think that this type of fanfic works better in script format, but some of my upcoming fics are in prose. You’ll be hearing a lot about me in the months to come. Anyway, I couldn’t help but become interested in all of the crossovers here between reality shows and Japanese anime. So, I decided to do one of my own. I’m tired of all the Survivor stuff, although there are a few gems among the trash. Thus, I created this. A series called “Roomies.” Mostly a mix of the two MTV reality shows: Real World and Road Rules, the former more than the latter. There is a small element of Survivor, but that’s only at the end. Note that this in no way is designed to be similar to Big Brother. I never watched that reality show, and I’m glad that I didn’t. The anime involved in this reality show are Pokémon: The Johto Journeys, Digimon, Tenchi Muyo, and Cardcaptors. I am fully aware that there are some people who don’t like the dub versions of these shows (especially the last), but I used them so that readers would be more likely to know who the characters are. That, and also because there are several characters whose Japanese personalities I have no knowledge of. I think that covers all of the bases. More will be explained as we go along. This is the casting special for Roomies. The actual show itself will be released later this week. I may not be the best at telling jokes, but I’ve tried to make it as funny as possible. Please review and let me know what you think! Disclaimer: None of the cast members belong to me. Pokémon, Digimon, Tenchi Muyo, and Cardcaptors belong to their respective owners. * * * * * * * * * * Roomies: The Casting Special Story Written by Freedom Fighter * * * * * * * * * * Narrator: These days, it’s hard not to travel the net without coming across a cartoon or anime that has been crossed over with a reality show. Survivor, The Mole, even Big Brother have been crossed with your favorite shows. And who knows if there are similar shows crossing with Real World, Road Rules, Temptation Island, or Boot Camp? Honestly, will the madness ever end? Don’t bet on it... you’re reading one of those fanfics right now. This is the ‘Roomies’ casting special. A camera turns on. It is pointed at four figures, which are sitting on chairs that are positioned by the railing. The cameraperson moves over to the railing and points the camera towards the ground. It is worthy to note that the group is a few hundred feet up... at the top of Tokyo Tower. The camera then moves back to the foursome, where we can now get a clear look at them. The first is a young purple haired girl dressed in a kimono. Next to her sits a blonde haired boy in a green and gray colored shirt and blue jeans. Another girl, also a blonde, sits with her legs crossed, because she is wearing a very revealing red dress. Finally, the fourth is a black haired boy wearing a school uniform. Cameraperson: Welcome to the ‘Roomies’ casting special. I’d like you all to meet four special friends of mine. Would you guys like to introduce yourselves? First: (stands up and bows to the camera) Hello! I am Ayeka, the first princess of the Planet Jurai. Second: (waves to the camera) Hello all! My name’s Michael. For those of you who don’t know me, I am a member of the North America Digidestined. Third: (playfully twisting her hair) Like, are we on? I’m Daisy, you know, the eldest of the Cerulean sisters? We’d love it if you guys attend our water ballet! It’s at the Cerulean City Pokémon Gym! Nightly shows, with four a day on Saturdays and Sundays! Please come and see us! Especially little ol’ me... Fourth: (interrupting) Okay, we’re only on for half an hour. Third: Humph. Fourth: Greetings! I am Zachary, and I attend Reedington Elementary. Today, though, we’re all here for a more important reason. Ayeka: You’re probably wondering what that reason is, huh? Michael: Allow us to explain. Daisy: (sadly, on the verge of crying) We’re the rejects who didn’t make the show! Zachary: More specifically, the rejects who almost made the show. There were others who weren’t as close as we were to getting in. Michael: There’s no difference almost making the show and not even close to making it. WE DIDN’T MAKE IT, PERIOD! Daisy: But there must be some reason we’re here. If we’re the rejects, then how did we end up having to host the casting special? Daisy looks at the others and sees that they are each fondling a sack of money. Michael: (to himself) I can use the money to take Mimi out on a fancy date. Ayeka: (to herself) I can use the money to go on a private vacation with Tenchi. Zachary: (to himself) I’ll put my money in the bank. Then, when I’m a little older, I can use it to impress my girlfriend. Daisy: (with shock) Where did you guys get those sacks of money? Michael: We were all paid to do this show. Two thousand American dollars up front, with a hundred dollars per hour of work taping this special. Ayeka: Who cares how much we’re getting paid as long as we’re getting paid. Daisy: How come I didn’t get any? Zachary: Ask the author. He knows this type of stuff. Daisy: (stands up and motions to leave) Well, I’m not staying here if I’m not getting paid for my work. I’ve got better things to do. Zachary: You mean like preparing that water ballet of yours, keeping your Pokémon in tip top shape for gym battles, and making sure that you always look your best so that guys will flock to you like bees to honey? Ayeka: You mean you can actually have guys flock to you? Daisy: Like, yeah. Ayeka: I’ll give you half of my money if you’ll just do one thing for me. Daisy: And that is? Ayeka: Promise that you’ll help me get Tenchi. Michael: You mean you’re trying to kill this Tenchi guy? Ayeka: (bops Michael on the head) ARE YOU CRAZY? WHY WOULD I WANT TO KILL THE MAN I’M DESTINED TO MARRY? Zachary: But I thought the guy you were destined to marry was Yosho. The only problem is that he’s way too old for you. Ayeka: (bops Zachary on the head) NOBODY HAS TO KNOW THAT! Daisy: Calm down! I’ll help you. Just stop bopping people before those two decide to call their lawyers. Do you know how much it costs to hire one per day? And think of all that time you’ll spend in court. Cameraperson: (coughs) Could we skip the small talk for now? I’m sure that all of the fans out there are wondering who are the cast members, if you catch my drift. Zachary walks over to the camera and takes it from the cameraperson. Zachary: (turns it towards the cameraperson) Okay Madison, if you insist, why don’t you start? Madison: (blushes) Zachary! I wasn’t ready yet! Ayeka: (off-screen) You’re looking at Madison Taylor, one of the sixteen ‘Roomies.’ From ‘Cardcaptors,’ Madison likes to videotape anything, especially her best friend Sakura. Her mother is the owner of a local toy company, and as thus, when Madison isn’t at school or at home, she can be seen with her bodyguards. Surprisingly, all of the guards are women. Go fig. Madison, anything to say to the fans out there? Madison: Um... I just hope that I don’t do anything stupid on camera. It’s weird being on the other end of it for once. Michael walks on screen and puts his arm around Madison. Michael: Don’t worry. You’ll do fine. Madison: (nonchalantly pushes his arm off of her shoulder) Don’t ever put your hand on me again. Michael: (steps back) Sorry. Zachary turns the camera towards Daisy. Daisy: Well that was great. But what about the rest of the Cardcaptors cast? Who else made the show? Allow us to introduce the five girls and two boys who will be joining in this experiment. (Play Cardcaptors theme music; the cast members are posing for a camera shot out by the track at Reedington Elementary) The five girls, one at a time, introduce themselves. Sakura: (CC) Hi! I’m Sakura Avalon! Meilin: (CC) My name’s Meilin, and don’t you forget it! Chelsea: (CC) I’m Chelsea, and I’m so excited! Nikki: (CC) Hello, I’m Nikki. Rita: (CC) Good day. My name’s Rita. Sakura, Meilin, Chelsea, Nikki, Rita: (simultaneously) And we’re the five lovely ladies of Cardcaptors! Sakura: (giggles) Madison, I know you’re a little sore because you couldn’t be here with us. Chelsea: You see, she’s in Odaiba, taping the casting special, I hear. Rita: It’s too bad she won’t be joining us. Meilin: Oh, stop pouting for her. She was obviously lacking the talent needed to get in. Nikki: No offense Meilin, but I heard you had to beg to get your application approved. Meilin: You don’t have to tell the whole world, you know! Sakura: Okay you two. Anyway, we’re all so happy that we made it in that we put together a little video. In it, you’ll see that we’ll do anything to win this little competition. Rita: Madison, consider this our salute to you. And if the producers are watching, please reconsider your decision. Chelsea: (nods in agreement) Yeah! We would love it if she were in the show with us. Sakura: And now, without further ado, our video... (Begin audition video) Chelsea: (VO) As you can see, we are very athletic... A shot of the girls during P.E. class, as Sakura, Meilin, and Nikki all clear the box vault. Chelsea: (VO) ... very intelligent... A shot of Nikki holding a graded math test paper up to the camera... she got a 97. At the same time, we see Sakura nearby attempting to hide hers... poorly, I might add... the first digit, a 6, is visible. Chelsea: (VO) ... very friendly... The camera changes to a shot of Sakura, Madison, Chelsea, Nikki, and Rita all talking to each other during lunch. Chelsea: (VO) ... and finally, very excited about our chances to live in a house for forty-two days with total strangers. This shot is one of all five girls holding various signs. Sakura, holding the biggest one, has ‘Cardcaptors should win and you know it!’ Meilin fights with her for space in front, holding a sign of her own that says, ‘You all know who deserves to win.’ Chelsea: (VO) This is for the Cardcaptors fans out there! Support us in our journey! Chelsea now appears on screen, with the other girls spread out on either side of her. Sakura, Meilin, Chelsea, Nikki, and Rita: Pick ‘Cardcaptors’ to win! You won’t regret it! Meilin: We guarantee! Sakura: Hey! That was my line! (End audition video) We now see the two boys, who are off to side. Obviously, neither of them is talking to the other. Sakura and Meilin go over to introduce them. Sakura: This is my older brother, Tori Avalon. Meilin: And this is Li Showron, the best Cardcaptor ever! Sakura: They’d introduce themselves, but they had a little argument on the way here... Meilin: (whispering to Li) Look good for the camera, Li. You’ll get more votes that way... Li: I refuse to participate in this crazy experiment! Tori: Me too... especially if he’s going to be in it as well. Li: What did you say? Tori: I said I wouldn’t dare live in the same house with you for six weeks! Li: You won’t be living when I’m through with you! Tori: (rolling up his sleeves) Yeah? We’ll see about that! Sakura: (holding Tori back) Tori! Meilin: (cheering) Yeah Li! Show Avalon’s brother what you’re made of! Chelsea, Nikki, and Rita sweatdrop as they watch from the sidelines. Chelsea: (turning to the camera) Uh... I think that’ll just about do it for us. Nikki: Let’s wrap this up. Rita: Back to you Madison... and good luck! (End feed; camera at Tokyo Tower turns back on) Madison: Well, I think a lot of people are confused now. Ayeka: That is correct Miss Taylor. Madison: Call me Madison. Ayeka: Okay, Madison. The truth is that Madison here was not told that she made the show until she got here. Zachary: I was with her when she was told the news. Would you believe that she actually broke down in tears? Madison: Zachary! Zachary: Well, you did. Daisy: Okay, so Madison got in, so why didn’t we? Michael: (off-screen, holding the camera) I’m sure there was a logical explanation. Ayeka: Like there were too many Digidestined... Michael hands the camera off to Daisy so that he can gesture more freely. Michael: Can I help it if the author likes Digimon so much? Madison: You know, I don’t think the audience is clear on what exactly we’re getting into here. Zachary: Allow me to explain. For six weeks, sixteen guys and sixteen girls will live together in one big mansion. The guys in Pallet Town, and the girls over in Reedington. Other than living together, the ‘Roomies,’ as they will be referred to, will be competing in challenges. Winning these challenges improves their chances of winning one of seven prizes. That includes the grand prize, which will go to one guy and one girl. It‘s a chance to win up to... The camera turns around and faces Michael. Michael: (doing his best Dr. Evil impression) ... one million dollars! Ayeka, Daisy, Madison, and Zachary: What was up with that? Michael: You mean none of you have ever seen ‘Austin Powers?’ The group shakes a collective no. Ayeka: Anyway, at the end of the forty-two days, the winner of the grand prize will be determined by a majority vote of the sixteen Roomies. Sound fair? Madison: Very fair. Say Ayeka, have you ever considered a career in reporting? Ayeka: Well, now that you mention it, I’ve always dreamed of being a news reporter. Zachary: You have? Not to my recollection... Ayeka: There’s a lot of stuff that the cast does when the camera goes off. Michael: How about giving us a sample... since we’re going to a commercial, (winks) if you know what I mean. Ayeka: What? How dare you... Ayeka charges up and begins chasing Michael around the tower. Zachary chases after Ayeka, attempting to stop her from taking down the tower and all of them with it. Madison turns towards the camera. Madison: Well, you heard Michael. We’re going to take a short break. We’ll be back... hopefully. * * * * * * * * * * Daisy: Ahem, we’re back! As you can see, Ayeka and Michael are off cooling their jets for awhile, so Zachary and I will continue the show... with Madison back behind the camera. Zachary: They aren’t cooling their jets. It’s just that the author is talking to them right now, threatening to take away their pay if they didn’t stop. Daisy: I knew that. Zachary: Anyway, I think this would be a good time to introduce the ‘Pokémon’ cast members. Daisy: About time. You know I’m still sore about not getting in, but it does give me a chance to cheer on a very good friend of mine. Zachary: You mean your little sister, Misty? I sincerely doubt that... since every time you and your sisters appear, you try to take advantage of her. Daisy: There’s nothing wrong with that. I bet those of you out there who have younger siblings do the exact same thing. Right? Zachary: I wouldn’t know. I’m an only child. Madison: (off-screen) Me too. Ayeka would agree, though. She does have a younger sister. Daisy: One show at a time, Madison. Madison: (off-screen) Oops. Sorry. Zachary: Anyway, let’s get on with the introduction of the ‘Pokémon’ cast. (Play Pokémon: The Johto Journeys theme music; the main cast appears in one shot, at Professor Oak’s Laboratory in Pallet Town, while the rest of the cast appears near their local towns) The five main characters sound off, one by one. Ash: (CC) I’m Ash Ketchum, and I’m going to become a Pokémon Master! Pikachu: (CC, by Ash’s side) Pika pi! Misty: (CC) I’m Misty, and my goal in life is to become the world’s best water Pokémon trainer. Brock: (CC) Hello, ladies! My name’s Brock, and I want to become the world’s best breeder. Tracey: (CC) My name’s Tracey, and I’m a Pokémon watcher. Gary: (CC) The name’s Gary Oak, and I’m out to prove that I’m Pallet Town’s number one trainer. A shot of Ash and Gary in their famous Pokémon battle prior to the Johto Leagues. Ash: I’m still a little sore about my loss to Gary back then, and this is the perfect opportunity to get back at him. Gary: Ash is just jealous because his Pokémon skills aren’t as good as mine. Back to a live shot, where Ash and Gary are still growling angrily at each other. Tracey: (to Misty and Brock) You know, sometimes I think this inter-town rivalry has gone a little too far. Misty: (sarcastically) Oh really? You just figured that out now? Brock: Ash and Gary have been rivals ever since they began their Pokémon journeys. Tracey: Guys... you know the tape’s running... Misty: What? Brock: Ahem... we’re five of the characters from ‘Pokémon: The Johto Journeys’ that are participating in the ‘Roomies’ experience. Misty: (smiles) And I’m the only girl in the main cast going! Isn’t that great? Tracey: (matter-of-factly) That’s because you are the only girl in the main cast. Misty: That’s right! Silly me... Brock: Hopefully when it comes down to the final vote, one of us will be in position to win it all. Ash: (in the background) It’s gonna be me! Gary: (likewise) No! It’s gonna be me! Ash: It’s gonna... Gary: Gonna... Ash: Gonna... Gary: Gonna... Brock: It’s gonna be me! Misty and Tracey: (simultaneously) You wish! The five of them get into a major argument. Pikachu sighs, walks over to camera, and speaks to it. Loosely translated, Pikachu offers the cameraman to move on to the other cast members. (Scene change to the Imite House, located outside Fuchsia City) Duplica is an orphaned green ponytail haired girl. She’s wearing an orange shirt with a big yellow star across the chest area, and some blue jeans. Her Ditto sits comfortably on top of her head. Duplica: (CC) Hi! I’m Duplica! That’s right! I’m making my return to ‘Pokémon’ real soon, and to celebrate, I’m going to join my old friends in this million dollar competition. My Ditto thinks that my chances of winning are pretty good. What do you think? (Scene change to Pokémon Tech, located near Cerulean City) Giselle, whose beauty and Pokémon battle skills are nearly unmatched among her peers, stands with Pokémon Technical School behind her. The young brunette is sporting her school uniform... a blue and gray jumper, and a matching white short skirt. She smirks, aware of three young guys, who I note are madly in love with her, had made their way into the camera shot on purpose. Giselle: (CC) I may be the top student in the beginner’s class at Pokémon Tech, but I possess skills far greater than any student here does. My brains, my good looks, and my tried and tested techniques for interpersonal relations will lead me to victory against the other girls in Readington. Heck, I’ll even outwit my fellow ‘Pokémon’ cast members. And shame on you if you don’t know my name yet. Some people might call me a bright star in the night sky... but I’m just Giselle. (Scene change to the Indigo Plateau) Richie, the so-called Ash Ketchum look-a-like, stands with Indigo Stadium in the background. The brown haired trainer is wearing his trademark blue jacket and pants, along with his blue and yellow hat. His Pokémon, a Pikachu named Chuchino, stands next to him. Richie: (CC) Richie here. I’m glad to get a chance to reunite with Ash. We had such a great time at the Pokémon League all those months ago, and it would be great just to hang out with him again. But even though we’re friends Ash doesn’t mean that I’ll let you get the million dollar grand prize that easily. (Last scene change... this one to New Bark Town) Casey, a 10 year old from New Bark Town, is standing in front of a camera. She has blue hair, and is dressed in a white baseball uniform with black stripes and yellow stirrups. Her Chikorita smiles happily on her left shoulder. Casey: (CC) Hello, my name’s Casey. I’m a new Pokémon trainer who lives in New Bark Town. I had just started my journey, but decided to get into ‘Roomies’ when I heard it was a great chance for exposure. I think a trainer needs exposure to get noticed at the Pokémon League. I hope this works out for the best. (The four of them are now on the screen, which is split into four equal parts) Richie: Don’t forget to wish us luck! Casey: We’re doing it all for exposure! Giselle: We’re doing it all to prove we’re more than useless one-shot characters. Duplica: We’re doing it for the money... whether Giselle admits it or not. Duplica, Giselle, Richie, and Casey: (all together) Support us, as well as the rest of the ‘Pokémon: The Johto Journeys’ cast. We’re doing it for you! (End feed; once again back at Tokyo Tower, with Ayeka now holding the camera) Daisy: Well that was the Pokémon cast. Interesting bunch, huh? Michael: They look like a bunch of glory hogs to me. Madison: Now wait a minute Michael. We shouldn’t go judging people before we get to know them. Zachary: I agree wholeheartedly with Madison. They might be much nicer than they appear. Daisy: Anyway, we see that Michael is back with us, and so is Ayeka, who is now working the camera. Hopefully you two have settled your differences. Madison: So far, we’ve shown you ten of the girls and seven of the guys. A pretty eclectic bunch we have going here. Michael: Yes. What I’m so embarrassed about is that all of the guys have a grudge with each other, while it seems that the girls are very close. Daisy: That’s because girls rule, boys drool! Michael: I find that impossible to believe. Zachary: Besides, don’t we get a chance to redeem the guys? I mean, we still have the cast members of ‘Tenchi Muyo!’ and ‘Digimon’ to go through. Madison: Before we do that, though, it’s time to meet the host of the guys’’ version of ‘Roomies.’ The sixteen guys will be staying at a new mansion that has just been built in Pallet Town in the Pokémon universe. In fact, it belongs to the host for the guys. Any Pokémon trainer or fanatic would know who he is. He’s one of the world’s greatest Pokémon researchers, if not the greatest himself. Hundreds of trainers come to him to start their Pokémon journeys, inquire about certain Pokémon, or to even help study them with him. He’s the one and only Professor Samuel Oak! Take it away professor! Switch to a live feed in Pallet Town. The newly built mansion stands in the distance. Mostly white all over, except for the bricks that were used to put together the roof, and the front door, which is painted in gold. Professor Oak then walks into the shot, holding a microphone. Prof. Oak: Good day. Roughly four weeks ago, construction on this mansion behind me was completed. It was originally designed to be my new house, which I would share with my grandson, Gary. That is, until I was informed that sixteen young boys, many of whom I have never met before, will be spending six weeks in it before even I get a chance to move my stuff in. My grandson, along with my assistant Tracey, worked together in bringing this ‘Roomies’ experiment here to Pallet Town. Although I originally didn’t approve of it, I decided to accept it over the fact that it would give me the chance to spend some time out of the lab. Pokémon research takes up most of my day, you know. But I hope that this is successful, and that Pallet Town becomes even more famous because of it. Madison: Professor Oak, I’m Madison Taylor, and I was just wondering... just how much begging from Gary and Tracey do before you finally gave in? Prof. Oak: Madison, it took about a week, and then I only gave in because I was tired of hearing them ask me about it every five minutes. Madison: I have someone here that you may or may not know. How well do you know the Indigo League gym leaders? Prof. Oak: I know most of them real well. Why? Daisy: (off-screen) Professor, we’ve never met personally, but I’m sure you’ll know me from the tales that my young sister has told on her journeys. Prof. Oak: Ah, you’re one of the Misty’s sisters, right? Daisy: (appearing on camera) Yep. I’m Daisy, the eldest of the Cerulean City sisters. Prof. Oak: Pleased to meet you. Daisy: I actually have a question for you myself. Prof. Oak: Okay... shoot. Daisy: Is there anything available out in the market that could help my sisters and I in raising our water Pokémon? Prof. Oak: Well, there are a few things that might help... Madison: (as Daisy and Prof. Oak continue to converse) Thank you, Professor Samuel Oak. We’ll leave you two to talk Pokémon. But we have to press on. We now go over to Princess Ayeka, who will introduce the two ‘Tenchi Muyo!’ cast members that made ‘Roomies.’ Camera moves over to Ayeka, with Michael now holding the camera. Zachary is in the background, preparing for another part of the program later on. Ayeka: It’s time to introduce who made it into ‘Roomies’ from my show, ‘Tenchi Muyo!’ As I do though, let me say that I’m appalled that only Tenchi and my little sister Sasami made the show. It is totally unfair! I could’ve made the show and evened the playing field a little, but no! Those stupid producers are scared that we’ll tear up the houses with our stupid fights. Well listen here... we’d better get some compensation for this. In fact, I hope Tenchi and Sasami boycott your stupid little program... Zachary: (running on screen) Ayeka! Now’s not the time... Ayeka: Leave me alone! If this is my only chance to speak out against this travesty, then so be it! And I don’t care what happens to me because of it. Zachary: You can talk to them after the show, but not while we’re on the air! Michael: (giggles from behind the camera) Ayeka, the whiny little princess... Ayeka: Okay that’s it! You leave me no choice Michael! Ayeka charges up and starts chasing Michael once again, causing him to drop the camera. Madison dives and catches it just in time. With Madison and the camera still on their side, Zachary kneels towards the screen. Zachary: (sighs) Let’s just get this over with, okay? Madison: (off-screen) Sounds fine with me... as long as we can get rid of those two as soon as possible. (Play Tenchi Muyo! theme music; we see Tenchi and Sasami sitting by the lake near the Masaki residence) Tenchi: (CC) Hello there! I’m Tenchi Masaki! Sasami: (CC) And I’m Sasami! (giggles) Hi! Tenchi: We’re proud to be here today talking about Roomies. Sasami: It’s too bad that we’re the only ones who got in. Tenchi: That’s okay. I’m sure the other girls won’t mind. Sasami: I have an idea! Why don’t we show them our audition tape? Tenchi: (sweatdrops) Do we have to? Sasami: Come on, it’ll be fun! Tenchi: Alright, let’s do it then... (Begin audition video) Tenchi: As you probably already know, I’ve lived for the past two years with six single women... none of which are married. For some reason, though, they seem to have an infatuation with me. Let me show you what I mean... Tenchi walks into the living room, and instantly Ryoko and Ayeka are on either side of him, tugging him one way, then the other, and then back again. Tenchi: See what I mean... (to Ryoko and Ayeka) Will you two stop it? Ryoko: Oh, I’ll stop when Ayeka stops. Ayeka: Oh, no you don’t! I’m not letting go until you do! Tenchi sighs. Behind the trio, Mihoshi and Kiyone enter after completing their space patrol for the day. Mihoshi: Hi Tenchi! Kiyone: (to Ryoko and Ayeka) Are you two fighting over Tenchi again? Ryoko and Ayeka: No! Mihoshi: Well, it sure looks like it to me. Tenchi: (to the camera) This might take a while to get unsorted... go see what Sasami’s up to, Ryo-ohki. Ryo-ohki: (from behind the camera) Mee-row! Ryo-ohki and the camera run for the kitchen, where Sasami is busy preparing lunch. Sasami: Oh, hi Ryo-ohki! Why do you have a camera on your head? (gasps) You mean they’re taping the audition now? Well, come up here Ryo-ohki. Let’s show them some of this fabulous chicken stew that I’m making. Ryo-ohki jumps up on to the counter, and she moves over to get a good show of the pot and the sweet aroma that it is giving off. Sasami: Doesn’t that smell good? It’s my famous chicken stew. This is the main course for lunch today. Sasami starts moving around the kitchen at lightning speed, doing one task after another, and telling the camera what she’s doing in the process. Sasami: (shot of her cutting up vegetables) We’re also having salad... (pulling out something from the oven) eggrolls... (putting rice in the rice cooker) and of course, rice. No meal is complete without rice. Sasami’s commentary is interrupted by the sound of furniture being tossed about in the living room. Sasami: (sigh) Can’t they ever solve their disputes nonviolently? Honestly, Ryoko and my sister go too far sometimes... As Sasami heads for the living room, she turns off the camera. (End audition tape) Tenchi: You know; now I have an idea why we’re the only two that got in. Sasami: I agree. Let’s just end this before the others find us here. Tenchi: Good idea. Tenchi and Sasami, signing off for ‘Tenchi Muyo!’ Sasami: Vote for us! We’ll do our show proud! (End feed; once again we go back to Tokyo Tower, with Madison back behind the camera) Daisy: I agree... there is some very good reasoning behind only getting Tenchi and Sasami in. Zachary: Yep. Simply put, the others would have presented a safety risk to the others. Daisy: Especially in the girls’ mansion... who knows if it would have even stood for a day. There’s no way I’d live in that mansion if any of those weirdoes were in it. Zachary: My sentiments exactly. Daisy: We have to take another commercial break. We’ll be back after this. * * * * * * * * * * Ayeka: (with her hair a little messed up after that last chase) Well, good day. We’re back. And I’m sorry for all of the trouble I caused today. Michael: (with his shirt partially burned) And I’m sorry for making all of those comments about Ayeka. Madison: (getting in between the two of them) There, now that wasn’t so bad, was it? Ayeka and Michael: (under their breath) Yeah, right. On the other side of the tower, Zachary looks over the side of Tokyo Tower before noticing that camera is now focused on him. He straightens up and gives his best smile to the camera. Zachary: (to Daisy) I think you’re aiming a little too high. (Daisy adjusts the camera) That’s better. (to the camera) Hi! Let’s move on with the program, shall we? Zachary walks over to a little poster, which has the pictures of five girls on it in a star formation. Each picture points the two other girls on the poster, signifying the relationships between them. From right to left, starting at the top, the girls are Kari, Sora, Yolei, Jun, and Mimi... the five female ‘Digimon’ representatives. Zachary: These five girls are from the ‘Digimon’ TV show, and are the final group of entrants among the girls. The reason that I put their pictures in a star formation is because that each of these girls connects to one another in some form or manner. I’ll explain the star momentarily, but let’s give the non-Digimon fans a minute or two to meet these young girls from the Odaiba district here in Tokyo. (Play Digimon theme music; each of the girls appear in front of Tokyo Tower, with the exception of Mimi, who stands with the Statue of Liberty in the background) Sora, Mimi, Kari, Yolei, and Jun: We’re the girls of ‘Digimon: Digital Monsters!’ Kari: (CC) Hi! I’m Kari, the holder of the Crest of Light. I’m just pleased as punch to be in ‘Roomies.’ Wait, did I just say pleased as punch? I didn’t mean that... could I change that to just plain “pleased?” Yolei: (CC) Yeah! I’m Yolei, and I’m so glad that I got to participate in ‘Roomies.’ You know how long I’ve gone without getting my talent recognized? Sora and Mimi are still living their dreams from Season 1, Kari is little Miss Popular, and Jun... well, she even gets more press than me because she spends every minute of her life chasing Matt! Well, I’m tired of it all! Can’t I get my fifteen minutes of fame here? Jun: (CC) I’m Jun Motimiya, and I’m in love with Matt Ishida. Isn’t it obvious? I thought it was... until that little wench Sora Takenouchi took him away from me. I’m taking you down Sora; you better believe it! Sora: (CC) My name’s Sora and I’m the original holder of the Crest of Love. You know I already have a reputation as a Digidestined, but I’m out to prove that I’m more than just a pretty face in the crowd. And whatever Jun told you, ignore it. She never had Matt to begin with. And Tai, I’ll explain later. I promise. Mimi: (CC) Oh, is this thing on? I’m Mimi Tachikawa, better known as the Digidestined who moved to New York City, got a makeover, and now all of my old friends are asking me out on dates. Not exactly how I’d envision things four years after we defeated Apocalymon, but were you really expecting more? Kari: To think, it took 31 episodes before Yolei and I knew each other inside and out. We’re that much opposite of each other. Who would ever believe that we’re now the best of friends? Yolei: Kari? Other than being the most popular girl in school, it’s cool. I’ve never gotten noticed much in school because of my looks, but hanging out with Kari, as well as TK and Davis... yes, I mean that... I’ve become the talk of the town. In a good way, I hope. Sora: Mimi and I are the best of friends. Even though we’re half a world apart, we still e-mail each other every day. We’d chat online, but because of the time differential, whenever it’s night here, it’s early morning where she is, and vice versa. I bet she has no idea how much the guys here miss her. Mimi: Although I’ve made some new ones here in New York, I’ll never forget my old friends and fellow Digidestined in Tokyo. It’ll be nice to spend six weeks with them so we can catch up on old times... I can’t wait. Jun: You all already know what I think of Sora? As for that Kari girl... the one my brother Davis likes... I don’t know what’s so special about her. She probably has some guy asking her out on a date every five minutes. Davis should just give up and pick someone else. Kari and Yolei: (sitting together on a bench) The second season Digidestined here, telling you guys, the fans, to support us! Jun: (tearing up a picture of Sora) Vote for me to win! Forget about Sora... she’s a traitorous scumbag. Sora: Jun, I’ll take that as a compliment... especially if it’ll help me win this little game. This game’s all about who you trust. Trust the right people, and you’ll get to victory lane. Mimi: Michael, for the last time, stop calling me! I’m not available for a date tonight, or tomorrow, or for the next six weeks! Okay? Oh, and vote Mimi, all you adoring fans out there! (End feed; back to Tokyo Tower, where Michael now has another reason to be sad; Madison is still holding the camera) Daisy: Wow that’s harsh. Ayeka: I agree. Right now, even I’m feeling sympathetic for Michael. Zachary: Talk about rejection. Michael: I’ll never ever think about Mimi for as long as I live! Michael walks off-screen, crying for his lost love. Ayeka: (to Zachary) Twenty bucks says he changes his mind and falls in love with Mimi again before the end of the show. Zachary: Make it thirty, and I’m in. Daisy: Um... Michael was supposed to do the next segment. Madison: (off-screen) He can’t do it right now... you do it, Daisy. Daisy: Fine then. Earlier in the show, we introduced you to Professor Samuel Oak, the host for the guys’ edition of the show. Now, we’ll take you to nearby Readington, a small district located on the outskirts of the city of Tokyo. Here, you’ll find the mansion in which the girls, including Madison here, will be staying. Luckily, this mansion doesn’t belong to the host. That doesn’t mean that the girls will be allowed to do whatever they want. This young woman will be regulating the girls’ edition. She’s the fifth grade teacher at the local elementary school. But there’s more to her than meets the eye. Like her strange connection to the Clow Cards. What is it? Maybe she’ll tell us herself. Here’s the hostess of the girls’ edition, Miss Layla McKenzie! Switch to a live feed in Reedington. The mansion can be seen behind the black gates located by the main road. The mansion is painted in a pale yellow, with highlights of white, sky blue, and orange splattered all over. Miss McKenzie then walks on screen, holding a microphone. Miss McKenzie: In just a matter of hours, sixteen young girls from four different anime will be invading this mansion behind me. They will live here for the next six weeks, for the most part cut off from all civilization. Will they live in harmony, or will personal rivalries tear the new roommates apart? And will Readington be the same old town after this is all over? This is ‘Roomies,’ where friendships can make or break destiny. Daisy: Miss McKenzie, my name’s Daisy. Michael’s busy at the moment, so I have the honor of interviewing you. Miss McKenzie: That’s fine with me. Daisy: I think everyone wants to know why you decided to get into this. Miss McKenzie: That’s simple. Since the girls were housing here in Reedington, I was chosen since I’m the most recognized adult female character in the ‘Cardcaptors’ television series. Daisy: And the mansion behind you... is it yours? Miss McKenzie: No. The mansion behind me is actually pretty new, too. It’s been up for four months now, but the real estate salesmen have been unable to sell it to anyone. So we decided to buy it from them for our purposes. But I don’t intend to live here after this is all said and done. What am I going to do with all of that space anyway? Daisy: That’s true. One more question, if you don’t mind. You already know six of the sixteen girls personally. Do you think they have an advantage over the others because of being able to stay here in their hometown? Miss McKenzie: Even though I even know them, I don’t believe they hold any real advantage. The producers are in charge of putting together the challenges and everything, so it’ll all depend on their own natural talents. Whoever does the best, and learns to get along with the others, will win it all. Daisy: Thanks for joining us, Miss McKenzie. We’ll see you and the girls in the premiere tomorrow night. Miss McKenzie: I’m looking forward to it. Thanks. Daisy: Well, we move back over to Madison, who will introduce the boys of ‘Digimon.’ Madison? Madison begins, with Ayeka now holding the camera. Madison: Michael may not be happy that he didn’t get into ‘Roomies,’ but the eight Digidestined guys who did are. You heard me right. Eight guys. Probably doesn’t sound fair, does it? They’d like to differ. Other than showing the other shows who’s the best, they’re also out to prove which season is better... one or two. Let’s see if their arguments hold any truth. Take it away, boys! (Play Digimon theme music once again, this time we go to the computer room of Odaiba Elementary) The eight Digidestined guys are split up into two groups. The first season cast is closest to the door, while the second season cast congregates by the window. Tai: (CC) Hello! I’m Tai! Matt: (CC) Matt here, strumming my guitar like there’s no tomorrow. Tai: (off-screen) That was lame. Matt: (CC) Hey! This is my time! You already had yours, Tai! Izzy: (CC) Prodigious! Izzy here and I have a ninety-nine point nine percent guarantee that a Season One Digidestined guy will come out on top. Joe: (CC) It’s me, good old reliable Joe. For those fans of mine out there, this is dedicated to you. Tai, Matt, Izzy, and Joe: We represent the Season 1 Digidestined! We’re out to prove that the more experienced cast can beat those weak rookies any day! Davis: (CC) I’m Davis, the leader of the Season 2 Digidestined. TK: (off-screen) Only because Tai gave him his goggles. In reality, I should be the leader. TK: (CC) I’m TK, holder of the Crest of Hope, and the true leader of the Season 2 Digidestined. Davis: (off-screen) In your dreams, TK! Kari’s mine, too! Cody: (CC) My name’s Cody. It’s a pleasure to meet you all. Ken: (CC) I’m Ken. I just hope that I don’t let my friends down. Davis, TK, Cody, and Ken: We’re the Season 2 Digidestined, and these rookies can do much more than those old timers from Season 1 can ever expect to accomplish. Matt: We decided to make a bet with the Season 2 cast... TK: Basically, we thought it was a fluke that Season 1 won the Digi-Bowl back in January. Davis: We’re out to prove that we’ve got more fans out there then they think. Izzy: If those new Digidestined think we’re going to roll over and play dead, so to speak, then they’re wrong. Tai: It’s too bad the girls didn’t want to participate in this wager. They would’ve found it fun. Cody: They didn’t get in because this is stupid! I don’t even know why I’m doing in this in first place. Joe: I agree... some of us have become friends throughout this whole ordeal. Ken: I just made friends within the Season 2 Digidestined, and I don’t want to lose them over some stupid quarrel between us and Season 1. Isn’t there another way out of this? Tai, Matt, Izzy, and Joe: Season 1’s the best! Davis, TK, Cody, and Ken: Season 2’s the best! Tai: The only way to figure this out is to vote for your favorite Digidestined in ‘Roomies.’ Davis: We need the support! Guide Season 2 to victory! Matt: Like that’ll happen... TK: I wouldn’t bet on you winning so easily either, Matt! (End feed; the camera atop Tokyo Tower turns on once again) Madison: Wow. There’s a lot of tension among the male Digidestined. Zachary: And I thought the girls had enough between them to last a lifetime. Ayeka: Well, that pretty much introduces the cast. Daisy: (from behind the camera) I hope you guys enjoyed the program. Madison: For my fellow co-hosts and rejects, Daisy of ‘Pokémon,’ Michael of ‘Digimon,’ Ayeka of ‘Tenchi Muyo,’ and Zachary of ‘Cardcaptors,’ I’m Madison Taylor. I’ll see you... Michael: (jumping in) Wait! Hold up a second! Madison: What’s up, Michael? Ayeka: (to herself) I can smell those thirty bucks right now. Michael: I just want to say something... Zachary: (to himself) Oh great... there goes thirty dollars. Michael: I’ve just had a revelation. I’ve come to realize that Mimi is tired of me bugging her, so I’m going to stop. Ayeka: (eyes wide open in surprise) WHAT? Zachary: (jumping for joy) I got thirty bucks! I got thirty bucks! Madison: So who’s the new girl? Kari? Yolei? Maybe you went old school and picked Sora... Michael: Actually... (grabs Madison’s hands and clasps his around them) it’s you. Ayeka, Zachary, Daisy, and Madison: WHAT? Michael: Ever since I laid eyes on you, your image has been pounding on the door to my heart. Madison: That’s so sweet... unfortunately, I don’t share the same feelings for you. Michael: That’s impossible! Don’t you find me the least bit attractive to you? Madison: (shrugging her shoulders) Somewhat. Michael: Then why? Why? Madison: (with a dreamy look in her eyes) I have my eyes on a special someone already. Michael: Who? Madison: (winks) That’s my own little secret. Daisy turns the camera towards Zachary, who is getting his thirty dollars from Ayeka. Zachary: It seems that the Digidestined guys aren’t the only ones involved in bets. Ayeka: (under her breath) Take your money, you grade school swindler. Zachary: Anyway, don’t forget to check the one hour premieres of ‘Roomies’ this week! The girls begin their stay in Reedington this Tuesday, May 15th. The guys move into Pallet Town this Wednesday, May 16th. We hope you’ll join the cast for this incredible adventure. Ayeka: Bye! Daisy: Good luck to the Roomies! Michael: We’ll be rooting for you! Zachary: Go all the way, guys! Madison: This is Madison Taylor, signing off! I’ll see you tomorrow night!
