Adventures Series, Episode 49, "The Chase Begins!" This is where it gets interesting. I would say about 90 percent of all of the good stuff that was supposed to be in "Love Affair in Pallet Town" is covered in this episode. If you ever wondered how Ash and Giselle spent their time that summer, or where Ash remembers Green from, you'll find out today! I hope that being in the Orange Islands for this mini-series doesn't scare any of you away. I know that the anime is already halfway through Johto, at least for those of you watching Kids' WB, so don't get discouraged! That brings up this... will there be any episodes in the Johto region for this series? My answer? Maybe. I'm not sure yet, but most of this season, we will remain in the Kanto Region. Let's see... what else do I still need to cover? Oh... Tracey and Duplica. Duplica joins Ash, Misty, and Brock on their journey this episode, while Tracey will join up around Episode 51. There's also one more that'll join the group in Episode 52. If any of the old fans remember, the poll I conducted at the end of Season 1 ended up with three characters being added to the gang because of several ties. Tracey and Duplica were two of the three. You'll find out the other when it comes. Speaking of Tracey, yes, he works with Professor Ivy. You can say that he decided to live with her in the same way that Brock decides to in the anime. That is, only Tracey's not there to cook and clean, but rather to serve as an observer of the professor's experiments. As for his Pokémon, for now, he'll just have Marill and Venonat. I haven't decided if Scyther should join his line-up. Last but not least, anyone wondering where Ash's interrupted flashback goes to... you'll find out next episode, where elements of "The Return of Mewtwo" are present. That's something to ponder as you await our big fiftieth episode. There's nothing special planned, but you should tune in anyway. Back to the action... and trust us, there will be some this time! Disclaimer: I do not own any Pokémon characters, but I do own all of my own original characters. Please note that my characters may not be used without my permission. *** [Begin replaying selected scenes of Episode 48] Narrator: Last time, Ash, Misty, and Brock reunited after nearly a year apart. To their surprise, though, they had a surprise companion: Duplica! But as Ash tried to tell the group of his whereabouts, Arius and Cassie appear, confirming their assumption that they were responsible for the death of TJ Smith, Duplica's old boyfriend, as well as hundreds of others aboard a plane that was blown up by Team Rocket. To add even more to the fire, the group discovers that Gary is also here to help look for the disk. But most surprising of all, Ash has run into Green, a young female thief who seems to know him. But how? We're going to find out. [End replaying scenes] Brock looks on Ash and Green are engaged in a staring contest. Pikachu is also ready to fight, just in case. The yellow mouse Pokémon began charging up for an electric attack. But he was going to wait for Ash to give him a signal to fire. Green: So, we meet again. Ash: Of all the people I've reunited with the last few days, you're the last person I wanted to see! Green: Still sore about what I did to you last time? Brock: Ash! Do you know this girl? Ash: Yes. (after a brief pause) We grew up together. ************************************************************************ Adventures Series, Season 3, Episode 3 [49] "It's All on the Disk," Chapter Three: "The Chase Begins!" Story Written by Freedom Fighter, Pre-reading done by Matt Lenz ************************************************************************ Friday, July 6th, Valencia Island Pokémon Center Meanwhile, back at the Pokémon Center, Misty was on her way from the cafeteria and to the room where Duplica was now resting. She was holding a cup of water for Duplica to drink. It was then that she spotted Arius sitting in the waiting area. Wondering why he had come back here, she walks over towards him. Arius: (seeing Misty) Misty! Look, we're sorry for everything that happened! Honest! It was out of our control! Misty: (standing in front of him) Why did you come back? Haven't you and Cassie hurt Duplica enough? Arius: For your information, Cassie is using Nurse Joy's videophone to call headquarters. She doesn't want to proceed with this mission at all. Misty: That's right... you two are part of a secret organization. What was it called again? Arius: The Pokémon Trainers' Association. Our job is to look for promising young trainers who are looking to improve their training skills, while getting paid for it. That is, instead of attending a school like Pokémon Technical, for example, which could cost you lots of money. Misty: I see. But there's much more to that. Right? Arius: (laughs) I can't fool you, can I? (regains his composure) Basically, we're a secret organization that backs up the Pokémon League in keeping things in order. In secret, of course. Misty: So how come I didn't hear of it before I met you? After all, I am part of a gym leader family. Cassie: Simple. Not even the Pokémon League knows about us. Arius and Misty turn and see Cassie standing there. Misty suddenly remembered what happened the last time she had caught the two of them in a conversation. Misty: (to herself) I'd better think of something before Cassie gets jealous again. (steps away from Arius) I'm sorry, Cassie. (bows) I'm not flirting with Arius, honest! Cassie: I believe you. Misty: (blinks) Huh? You mean you're not mad? Cassie: No. You two were just talking. It wasn't like you were flirting with him. Misty: True. Cassie: (to Arius) We're no longer involved with this mission, Arius. We can go back on vacation, as well as make up the vacation days we lost. Arius: So, we're leaving now? Cassie: Nurse Joy said we could stay the night. Besides, security's tight at the airport. Even if we went there now, we'd be stuck there for a few hours. Might as well rest here and start looking for vacation spots in the morning. Arius: (to Misty) Once again, we're sorry for all the trouble we've caused you and your friends. Cassie: Duplica probably doesn't want to see me any more, so just give her my regards. Hopefully, she'll recover from all of this. Misty: I sure hope so. Arius: Good night, Misty. As Arius and Cassie head towards the sleeping rooms, Misty runs after them and stops them before they get to the stairs. Misty: Hold on! I'm not done asking you questions about your organization yet! Arius: You know good and well that we can't do that. Cassie: It's better off if you just forgot about us and moved on with your life. Misty: You know I can't! Not after everything that's happened! Arius: Trust us. With us out of your hair, the lives of you and your friends will return to normal. Cassie reaches into her purse and takes out the Pokédex upgrade and the two empty Pokéballs that she had gotten from Professor Oak. With her free hand, she grabs Misty's right arm, forces her to open her hand up, and then transfers the items to Misty. Misty: Cassie? Why are you giving me these? Cassie: I honestly can't fulfill Professor Oak's request, either. So I want you to give these back to him. Hopefully he'll find someone to take my place. Misty: Why don't you keep them as a gift? It's not like he's going to hunt you down until he gets them back. Cassie: It just wouldn't be right. Take them, please! Misty reluctantly gives in and nods her head in acceptance. Arius: I suggest that you and Duplica find your friends and start looking for that disk. Misty: (smiles) Don't worry. I will. Cassie: Oh, and Misty? Misty: Yes? Cassie: When you find the disk, destroy it. No one deserves to have the information on that disk in their possession. It could change the way Pokémon are treated in the future. Misty: I promise that we will destroy the disk if we find it. With that, Arius and Cassie start walking up the stairs. Misty heads back to Duplica's room so that the two could rejoin Ash and Brock. Speaking of which, let's head back to the beach... Brock: What do you mean 'you grew up together?' Ash: Well, that's a long story... [Flashback - Seven years ago, Pallet Town At the Oak's house, a young Ash Ketchum and Gary Oak were glued to the front of the television in the living room, watching a Sesame Street-esque show. In fact, they were glued so much that their faces were literally against the screen. Ash: (VO) It was the summer before Gary and I started kindergarten. Since my mom wanted to work on her garden during the day, she would send me to Gary's house. The two of us played together everyday. Even though we were still friends back then, we were always so competitive... Gary: My face is closer to the TV than yours is! Ash: My face is closer! Gary: Mine is! Ash: Mine! Gary: Mine! Ash: Mine! Gary: Mine! Ash: Mine! Gary: Mine! Ash: (VO, uncomfortably) That would go on until we got tired of arguing, or until May broke us up. Brock: (VO) May? Who's May? Ash: (VO) May is Gary's older sister. Brock: (VO) Gary's sister? Gary has a sister? Ash: (VO) Yeah. She was our babysitter. Brock: (VO, blushes) Is she cute? Ash: (VO, defensively) Hey! Back then, she was as old as I am right now! Green: (VO, angry) Can we get on with it? Let's get to my part already! Ash: (VO) Okay! As I was saying, we would argue until we got tired of it, or when Gary's sister broke us up. A brown haired twelve year old girl, dressed in red and green plaid blouse and a knee-length black rippled skirt, enters the living room and spots Ash and Gary arguing over who was the closest to the TV. May: (rolls her eyes as she speaks to herself) There they go again. May walks over to Ash and Gary and pulls them away from the TV and to the nearest couch. She then begins to scold them. May: How many times have I told you not to stand so close to the TV? Ash and Gary: (sadly) Sorry, May. May: And why are you fighting over being so close to it, anyway? I mean, like, don't you know that you can't get blind staring at it like that? Ash and Gary: Sorry, May. May: If you two fight, at least fight over something worth fighting over. Like whether the red monster is funnier than the blue one. Ash and Gary: Sorry, May. May: (a little angry) And will you two quit apologizing! Ash and Gary: Sorry, May. May sweatdrops. All of a sudden, the doorbell rings. May: (to herself) Thank goodness! May goes to the front door and opens it. She sees a man and woman, both dressed in business suits, standing there. Also with them is a five year old girl, who walks right past May and into the living room, where Ash and Gary are. This girl, of course, is Green. Back then, though, she still went by her birth name, Francine. Francine: (waves to Ash and Gary) Hello! Ash and Gary: Hi. Gary: The blue one is funnier. Ash: No, the red one is! Gary: Blue! Ash: Red! Gary: Blue! Ash: Red! Francine: Um... I think the green one is the funniest. Ash and Gary stop their arguing and look over at Francine. After a few seconds, the silence is broken by Ash. Ash: You're right! The green one is the funniest! Gary: The name's Gary. I'm in charge. Ash: You are not! Oh, and I'm Ash Ketchum! Francine: I'm Francine. It's nice to meet you. Ash: I think we're all going to be good friends. Ash, Gary, and Francine turn their attention back to the TV as May continued to converse with Francine's parents. End flashback] Brock: You mean Francine's your name? Green: Yeah. What type of parents would name their daughter after a color of the rainbow? Ash: Well, at least you know how we got our nicknames. Brock: Hold on! Okay, she's Green and you're Red, Ash? Green: I thought we established that already. Brock: Gary's Blue then, right? Ash: I think we get the idea, Brock. Green: Anyway, I met Ash and Gary the first day my family moved into Pallet. The three of us became the best of friends. Ash: She didn't stay long, though. Her family moved again six months later. Green: We never saw each other again. Brock: Until now? Ash: Actually, until last year. Brock: What do you mean by that? Ash: (sighs) Remember when Giselle followed me home to Pallet because she wanted to get some training tips from my dad? Green: (snickers) I still can't get over the fact that your mother's married to the great Professor Oak! He's so old! Ash: I still can't get over it. Brock: You mean you two saw each other again in Pallet? Why didn't you tell me, Ash? Ash: Because Francine, I mean, Green, wasn't the same person at all... [Flashback - Last year, Pallet Town Ash and Pikachu are seen walking away from Professor Oak's laboratory, especially after being on the receiving end of one of Giselle's insulting rants. Ash: Sometimes I wonder what's worse. Listening to Giselle ridicule me, or listening to Misty yell at me. Pikachu: (confused) Pika pi? Ash: (yelling) How come every girl I meet thinks I can't train a Pokémon? I'm the one who's in the Pokémon League! Francine's Voice: I bet you could prove them wrong. Ash turns and sees Francine standing behind him. She looks the same as the present day version of Francine, except for the fact that she's a few inches shorter. Ash: (gasping in surprise) Francine? Francine: (a little confused) Do I know you? (now a bit scared) Excuse me... Ash runs up and grabs Francine's left arm before she can get away. Ash: Francine, it's me! Ash Ketchum! Francine: Ash Ketchum? I've never met you in my entire life. Ash: Huh? Pikachu: Pika pikachu, pika pika? Ash: Maybe this'll help. Ash coughs to clear his throat. Ash: (in his squeaky five year old voice) The red one's the funniest! Francine: (gasps in shock before quickly recovering) No, the green one is! Ash: See? You do remember me! Right, 'Green?' Francine: It's been a long time, 'Red.' Pikachu watches, slightly confused, as Ash and Francine walk towards each other and share a hug. Ash: Where have you been these past few years? And what was that about me proving Misty and Giselle wrong? Francine: I live in Saffron City now. We move somewhere new practically every year because my parents keep getting transferred. As for me helping you in your situation, well, I've got some gadgets that are designed to increase the attack capabilities of any Pokémon! Ash: Um... run that by me again? Francine: (giggles) Sorry. My boss forces me to say that as part of my sales pitch. Basically, my job is to sell trainers Technical Machines. Ash: What's that? Francine: A Technical Machine allows a Pokémon to learn an attack that may take too long to learn normally, or some cases, an attack that they don't learn naturally. Francine pulls a giant black bag out of nowhere and puts it down on the ground. She opens it and pulls out a red miniature batting helmet. Francine walks over to Pikachu and attempts to push it onto his head. Unfortunately, it's a bit too small, as Francine struggles to get it all the way on. At the same time, Pikachu cries out in pain, using his arms to try and get the helmet off. Finally, Francine succeeds in getting the helmet completely over Pikachu's head. That is, to the point where the top of Pikachu's head is touching the interior of the helmet. Francine: (laughs nervously) There we go. Pikachu: (struggling to get the helmet off) Pika! Ash: (looking at Pikachu with concern) Isn't that a helmet a bit too small. Francine: Nonsense! Pikachu just needs some time to adjust to it. Anyway, this is TM40, Skull Bash! When this attack is called, the Pokémon runs towards the head of the opponent's Pokémon. When the two Pokémon's heads connect, the opposing Pokémon is knocked silly, if not unconscious! It's a very powerful attack, if used correctly. Ash: Really? Francine: Of course, I'd use it sparingly. You don't want other trainers to sue you after you accidentally crack a Pokémon's skull and kill it. Ash: Are you serious? (gulps) Maybe we should try something else. Francine: (noting that Pikachu's face is turning blue) Good idea. Francine yanks the helmet off of Pikachu's head. Pikachu begins spinning around dizzily as he tries to get some blood flowing through his head. Meanwhile, Francine puts the helmet away and reaches back into her bag. This time, she pulls out a pocket mirror that's attached to a headphone strap. She walks over to Pikachu to put it on, but by this time the yellow mouse had recovered. Not wanting to try on another one of Francine's weird contraptions, Pikachu, in a panic, fires a thunder bolt at her. He just misses, as the bolt lands in front of Francine's feet. Ash: Pikachu! Pikachu: (scared, places his paws over his head as he hides behind Ash) Cha! Francine: It's okay. We can use one of your other Pokémon to try this on. Right? Ash: Of course. About twenty minutes later, Ash's Pokémon are decorated in Francine's TMs. Bulbasaur has an egg launcher attached to her back. Squirtle is wearing some scuba gear, only with water in the tank instead of oxygen. Charizard has a giant flashlight attached to a necklace that's around his neck. Pidgeotto has four mini-fans attached to him: one to each of his legs, one to his tail feathers, and one to top of his head. Lapras has the aforementioned pocket mirror strapped to her head. And last but not least, Pikachu, after some prying, Francine had managed to get Pikachu to put on two sky blue colored boxing gloves. Francine: Let's see... that's TM37, TM11, TM15, TM04, TM33, and TM01. [1] [2] That'll be a hundred and ten dollars. Ash: (in surprise) What? I don't have that much money. Francine: Well, how much do you have? Ash reaches into his pockets as much money as he can find. He ends up with... Ash: Fifty-two dollars and seventy-nine cents. Francine: (sighs) Well, I guess that will do. It's better to be paid half rather than nothing at all. Besides, we're old friends. I'm sure my boss won't mind. Ash: (happily) Thanks, Francine! Francine: Sure. Oh, and call me Green from now on. Okay, Red? Ash gives Francine all of his money. Francine then puts her bag away and starts to walk off. Ash: Francine? Um, I mean, Green? Francine: Huh? Ash: You want to come with me to lunch? I'm sure my parents won't mind. Francine: No thanks, Red. I've got to get going. But thanks for the offer! Before Ash could come up with something else to keep Francine in town for a little while longer, she runs off. Once Francine is out of town, she stops to count her money. Francine: I can't believe how much of a sap Red is! 53 dollars wasn't what I was going for, but at least it'll cover my meals for a few days. Back at Professor Oak's laboratory, Giselle is out in the back yard. Cubone is currently hitting Graveler over the head with his bone club. Giselle: Cubone, come on! Graveler should have fainted by now! How do you expect me to win the Pokémon League Novice Tournament if all you're doing is tapping that bone against him? Ash suddenly walks up to her, with all of his Pokémon in tow, along with all of the devices they are wearing. Ash: Okay Giselle, I'm ready for a match this time! Giselle turns towards Ash as if she was going to deny that request... until she spots all of his Pokémon. Giselle: (sweatdrops) What's this? A Pokémon fashion show? Ash: Those are Technical Machines my Pokémon are wearing! They allow the user to use an attack that they would normally take them forever to learn! Giselle: (laughs) You're kidding, right? Please tell me that you're kidding! Ash: (angry) What's so funny? Giselle: Were you born yesterday? Those things aren't real TMs! They're just junk! ********************************************************************* Ash: What are you talking about? Giselle: (ignoring the question) Who did you buy these from? Ash: Francine. She's an old friend of mine who sells them as part of a business she works for. Giselle: And let me guess... you paid a lot of money for them, right? Ash: Actually, I only paid about half. I didn't exactly have enough to pay for it all. But you have to admit, you can't beat paying only 53 dollars for six TMs. Giselle: Discount or not, these things are fake. Here, let me show you. Giselle goes to her backpack and pulls out a Pokémon trainer's guide. After flipping a number of pages, she comes across a picture of a TM. She shoves the book into Ash's face. Giselle: There! A TM is just a small little box. When given to a Pokémon, it disappears and the Pokémon learns the attack inside of the TM. They are not attachments to Pokémon! Ash: No way! That means... Giselle: That your little friend just robbed you of 53 dollars. Ash: (as Giselle walks over to take the fake TMs off of his Pokémon) But why would she do that? She used to be one of my best friends when I was growing up! Giselle: (casually) You can't trust anybody these days. Ash: (with a smirk on his face) Including you? Giselle: (turning her head towards Ash) Hey! Ash: (snickers) Just kidding. Giselle: (stomping towards Ash) I'm doing you a favor by making sure you don't look stupid when you go into battle with your Pokémon wearing these things! And unless you want to look for your 'friend' by yourself, you'd better shut that trap of yours and start walking! I bet your friend's already miles away by now! Ash: You're right! I need that money to buy some supplies for the road! We'd better go after Green. Giselle: Green? Ash: That's Francine's nickname. I gave it to her when we were all five. You see, Gary was nicknamed Blue, and I was nicknamed... Giselle: Yeah yeah, we don't have time to listen to your life story. Let's go find her and get your money back. Recalling all of their Pokémon, Ash, Pikachu, and Giselle leave the grounds of Professor Oak's laboratory and head towards the outskirts of Pallet Town, in hopes of finding Green. Brock: (VO) So, Giselle helped you look for Green? Ash: (VO) Uh huh. Luckily for us, it didn't take us long to find her. She was taking a catnap in the woods, along Route 1. Green: (VO) I was in a good hiding place! It was dumb luck that you managed to stumble across me! Ash: (VO) Anyway... Along Route 1, Ash and Green are staring each other down, with just a few feet between them. Pikachu is by Ash's side, while Giselle stands behind the duo. Ash: Give me my money back, Green! Pikachu: Pika pika! Green: (innocently) What money are you talking about? Ash: The money I gave you for buying those fake TMs I bought from you! Green: (with fake surprise) Oh! That money! Ash: (takes a step forward) Give it back! Green: (smirks) Sorry, but I don't do refunds. Ash: (growls angrily) What company do you work for? I'll make sure your boss knows about this! Green: I don't work for any company. I take money from unsuspecting suckers like you on my own! Ash: (now shocked and angry) So you planned this out all on your own? Green: (cheerfully) Yep. Pretty cool, huh? Ash: No, it's not! I want my money back! Green: And I'm not giving it back. Get it? Ash: If you want to do it the hard way, then we will. (turns to Giselle) A little help, please? Giselle: Hey, I offered to help you find her. I didn't say anything about helping you beat her in a Pokémon match. Ash: (sarcastically) Thanks a lot, Giselle. You really made my day. Giselle: (smiles) Glad I could help. Ash: (turns to Pikachu) You're on, Pikachu! Pikachu: (jumping in front of Ash) Pika! Green: (a little scared) A Pokémon battle? But I only have one Pokémon! Giselle: Well, at least we know why you swindle trainers. Ash: We do? Giselle: Of course! With the money she gets, she uses it to buy supplies so that she can capture more Pokémon! She obviously needs a few more. Green: (feeling defeated) I guess I have no choice, do I? Green reluctantly pulls out her only Pokéball and throws it to the ground. A Wartortle comes out of it. Wartortle: Wartortle war! Ash: You mean all you have is your starter? Green: (sadly) Yes. Ash: Gee... that's not much of a challenge! Giselle: Yes it is! Yes it is! The only way you're going to get your money back is to beat her in battle! Remember? So battle her already! Besides, you can choose another Pokémon other than Pikachu so that she has a better chance of winning! Ash: I can't bring myself to battle an old friend. Even though she did swindle me out of my own money. Green: (confused) You mean you'll let me go? Ash: (friendly) Sure. After you give me my money back. Green: (dignified) And what happens if I don't? Ash: Well, as much as it pains me to say it, we could call the police... Green: (in a state of panic) No! Don't do that! (sighs) Okay, I'll give you your money back. Green reaches into her bag and pulls out all of Ash's money: fifty-two dollars and seventy-nine cents. She then walks over and hands it back to Ash. Giselle walks up to the duo as Pikachu watches the transaction closely. Green: Here you go. Ash: (taking his money and pocketing it) I can't believe that you're reduced to swindling other trainers. Green: (sadly) I know. Why did I decide to be a Pokémon trainer in the first place? Giselle: Oh, come on! You know exactly why you decided to be a trainer! So you can prove that girls can train Pokémon just as well as boys can! Ash: (yelling at Giselle) Whose side are you on anyway? Green: I guess I'd better get going. Ash: Wait a second! Why don't you come back to Pallet Town? Gary's in town too, taking a break from training. I'm sure he'd love to see you again. Green: I can't. Not with the line of work I'm involved with. Ash: Why don't you quit? We can work something out. We'll find someway to get you some supplies to work with. Please? Green: I'm sorry, Red, but I like getting things the easy way. Ash: I guess you'd better go then. Giselle: What? You're not going to report her to Officer Jenny? Ash: No. Giselle: (groans) You're hopeless. Green begins to walk away, down Route 1 and towards Viridian City. Ash, Pikachu, and Giselle watch as she eventually disappears from their sight. The trio then begins walking back towards Pallet. Giselle: I can't believe you let her go like that! Ash: Oh, she'll come around eventually. I know she's a good person at heart. After all, she'll think twice about pulling something on me again. Giselle then stops dead in her tracks. She checks her blouse pocket for her Pokéballs... only to find that one of them was missing. Giselle: I'm missing a Pokéball! Ash: (looking at his belt and also spotting a Pokéball missing) Me too! Pikachu: Pika pikachu! Giselle and Ash look at each other and quickly realize the obvious! Giselle and Ash: Green! Giselle: (beginning to run off) I told you we shouldn't have let her walk! Ash: (running after Giselle) How was I supposed to know she was a thief too? End flashback] Ash: Giselle and I eventually got our Pokéballs back, but we weren't happy that you got away, Green. Green: What can I say? I'm a tough girl to catch! Brock: Now that we know why you two know each other, why are you here? Green: Well, if you must know, I got a hot tip that there was something very valuable up in Professor Ivy's laboratory. So I went up and stole the disk. Ash: (gasps in surprise) You stole the disk? Green: (nodding in agreement) Surprisingly enough, I had some competition getting it. Namely, Team Rocket. Ash: So they're involved in this too? Green: Not anymore, since I have the disk. (smirks) Unless they want to buy it from me, of course. Brock: Do you have any idea what's on that disk? Green: Not really. But it must be valuable if everyone wants it so badly. Including you two. Ash: We need that disk, Green! Green: Sorry Red, but if you want it, you buy it. And I don't think you have the money to do that. Brock: What is up with you and money? Green: (happily) That's why I'm Green! Ash: Quit while you're ahead, Green! All of the Officer Jennys of the Orange Islands will be on your tail if you don't give up now! Brock: Yeah! If you turn yourself in now, they might let you off easier. Pikachu: Pika! Green: (reaching for a Pokéball) Sorry boys, but like I said... Green throws the Pokéball into the ocean. Out of it comes a Blastoise. Ash: Your Wartortle evolved? Green: Yep. And I'll show you how good he is at swimming! Bye bye! Green blows a kiss to Ash before running towards her Blastoise. She runs towards the shoreline and jumps on top of Blastoise's shell. She then commands him to go. Green: Let's ride that surf, Blastoise, and as fast as possible! As Green and Blastoise get away, Ash, Brock, and Pikachu run towards the shore. Ash: (shouting) I can't let you get off scot-free this time! (throws a Pokéball out) Lapras, I choose you! Lapras comes out of her Pokéball and cheers with joy as she appears in the water. Ash, Brock, and Pikachu jump on her back. Ash: Lapras! Follow that Blastoise! Lapras starts swimming after Blastoise. As the two water Pokémon and their riders begin to disappear beyond the horizon, two trainers appear on the beach, shouting their heads off. Misty: Hey! Where are you guys going? Duplica: What's going on? They're coming back for us, right? After waiting for a few minutes and realizing that Ash and the others weren't coming back, the two girls begin to panic. Duplica: What do we do now? Misty: We follow them, of course! Misty reaches back into her satchel and finds Togepi still asleep inside. She feels her way past her egg Pokémon and locates a Pokéball. She pulls it out and throws it to the ground. Misty: Misty calls Poliwrath! Poliwrath comes out of its Pokéball and salutes its trainer. Misty: Poliwrath! It's time to do some surfing! Poliwrath runs over to the water and jumps into it. Duplica: (turns to Ditto) Ditto, transform into a Poliwrath as well! Ditto: (nodding in agreement) Ditto! After Ditto transforms into a Poliwrath, the two female trainers and their water Pokémon surf after the guys. Narrator: Well, it looks like the chase has officially hit stage two! Now that our heroes know who the thief is, all that's left is to capture her! But will that be a hefty challenge in itself? Find out in our next thrilling adventure! To be continued...
