Adventures Series, Episode 30 (Version 1.1), "Dreams Do Come True Epilogue" Thanks for all the support you guys have given towards this series. It was the best of this season's three "Ash Ketchum" adventures, and I had fun writing it these past three months. Here in the epilogue and conclusion, there's just one short battle before one of the characters departs from the cast. Also, another premiere appearance for a character from the anime is in this chapter. Now, the exciting... and more mellow... conclusion to "Dreams Do Come True." Disclaimer: Sally and any other unfamiliar characters are mine. Here, first-time rookies are put to the test as they do battle with a randomly selected Novice Class trainer. Ash: So this is Hiran Town. Sally: Right. The battles are done at the official Pokémon Stadium up at Hiran Plateau. Ash: Hiran Plateau? Brock: From what I've heard, it's like the Indigo Plateau. There's a giant stadium up there where the battles take place. Ash: So, Sally, what exactly happens in this "last leg?" Sally: Well, each trainer at your level is given a chance every six months to advance to the next level, or "Pokémon League Rookie Class First Level." Here, they are to battle with a "Pokémon League Novice Class Second Level" member. Ash: You mean we have to win the match to advance? Female Voice: Not exactly... your advancement depends on your overall skill, not whether you win or not. The three look up and see Lorelei, the ice mistress of the Elite Four. Brock: Hey, aren't you Lorelei? Lorelei: The one and only. Lorelei was dressed in a knee length black dress and matching high heels. Her glasses hid the beauty underneath that was accented by her red hair and extensive makeup. Lorelei: (turns to Sally) Well, look who's back! Sally: Hi Lorelei! How have you been? Brock: (jumping back in surprise) You know Lorelei? Sally: Yeah. I'm a second year member, remember? I was up here doing the same thing Ash is about to do. Lorelei: Oh, so you're Ash Ketchum, huh? Ash: Yes. Pleased to meet someone as talented as you. Lorelei: A hint of advice... don't try to flatter me. It doesn't earn you any extra points. Ash: (sweatdrops) Oh, sorry. Sally: Lorelei here is the judge. She decides whether or not a trainer advances to the next level. Brock: Wow! If you're the judge, then maybe I should strut my stuff too... being a future Pokémon master and everything. Sally: I thought you said you were going to be a Pokémon breeder? Brock covers her mouth, trying to keep her quiet. Brock: Well, I don't want her to know that. Lorelei: And you must be Brock Slate, the former gym leader of Pewter City. It's been awhile, hasn't it? Brock: (embarrassed) Yes, I guess it has. Ash: You know her too? Brock: Yeah. All the gym leaders are required to attend monthly meetings with each other and the Elite Four. Sally: So that explains it. Lorelei: Anyway, are you ready to begin your match? Pikachu: (tired and hungry) Piiiii... Ash: Um, not exactly. Is there a place where we can eat and heal your Pokémon here? Lorelei: Yes. We have a Nurse Joy on staff at the stadium. Brock: (becoming love-struck) Nurse Joy... Brock takes off running towards the stadium. Ash, Sally, Pikachu, and Lorelei sweatdrop. Lorelei: Is he like this all the time? Ash: Only when he spots a pretty girl... Sally: And that's like in every town we pass through. Pikachu: Pika... A little later, Nurse Joy is healing all of the Pokémon, while simultaneously trying to keep Brock away from her. Ash and Sally get tired of Brock's shenanigans, and they head inside, taking a seat in the stands. Lorelei was in the middle of officiating a match. Lorelei: One minute left, green trainer! Green Trainer: Arcanine, fire blast! Red Trainer: Hitmonchan, mega punch! Hitmonchan gets burned badly, but manages to stay alive. Arcanine winds up to fire another blast. Green Trainer: Fire blast! Red Trainer: Dodge, then ice punch! Hitmonchan successfully dodges the fire blast and hits Arcanine right in the jaw. He falls to the ground, injured, but still in the fight. Lorelei: Time's up! The two trainers recall their Pokémon, then face Lorelei. She turns to the red trainer first. Lorelei: Good work, James. If you fight that well at the Indigo Plateau in two weeks, you could be on your way to the next level. James: Thanks. James turns around and looks for Nurse Joy. Lorelei then turns to the green trainer. Lorelei: You were doing well until the end, Gary. But you still got enough points to pass. Here's your new membership badge! Congratulations on becoming a Rookie Class First Level trainer! Gary: Thanks, Lorelei. I couldn't have done it without the help of my Pokémon, though. Ash: Gary! Gary: Well, look what the cat dragged in! Ash: What are you doing here? Gary: Heading for the next level. And you? Ash: The same! Gary: I doubt that, Ash, but you can certainly try. I'd like to stay and watch you get humiliated, but I've got somewhere to go. See you later, loser! Gary runs out, pinning the badge on his shirt before leaving. Sally: That was Gary again, wasn't it? Ash: (angry) I'll show him a thing or two about Pokémon training! Lorelei: Now, Ash. Don't worry about him. Besides, the only person that can decide if he or she gets to the next level is the trainer who's battling him. Ash: Right. Say, who am I battling, anyway? Sally: (taps Ash on the shoulder) Guess who? Ash: (points at her, eyes wide open in surprise) You? Sally: Yep. These matches are planned far in advance, and I knew you would be my opponent before we even met! Ash: So why didn't you tell me? For all I know, you could've spent all this time looking for a weakness in my training! Sally: If I had told you, you would've surely tripped up somewhere. People tend to lose their concentration if they know they're being watched. Pikachu comes running out, and he stops right next to Ash. Joy and Brock follow, each carrying a tray of Pokéballs. Joy: Here are your Pokéballs, Ash! Brock: And here are yours, Sally. Ash: Thanks. Sally: Now, let's get this match started! Lorelei: The rules are as follows. This match will last no longer than ten minutes. Each trainer will use two Pokémon. No items will be allowed during the match. (turns to Ash) Ash, your objective is to defeat Sally's Pokémon using strategy and power to win. If your Pokémon faint before the time limit is up, you automatically fail the test. Plus, beating Sally in the time limit doesn't guarantee your advancement. Remember, the more skilled you are, the better your changes are of winning. Joy leaves to take care of James's Pokémon, while Brock takes a seat in the stands to watch. Lorelei takes her place in the judge's chair, as Ash and Sally move to the opposite ends of the field. Lorelei: Green trainer, you will select your Pokémon first. Good luck... your ten minutes start now! Ash: Pikachu, I choose you! Pikachu: Pika pika! Sally: (throwing a Pokéball) Dugtrio, go! Dugtrio: Dugtrio! Ash: Pikachu, thundershock! Pikachu attacks, but Dugtrio is unaffected. Lorelei: You know that thunder attacks are ineffective against ground types. You're going to lose some points for that. Sally: Dugtrio, dig! Dugtrio burrows underground. Pikachu frantically tries to pinpoint Dugtrio's exact location. Dugtrio suddenly comes up and connects. Pikachu falls to the ground, but gets back up immediately. Ash: Pikachu! Sally: Dugtrio, slash! Ash: Whoa! Pikachu, quick attack! Pikachu strikes first, landing a good amount of damage on Dugtrio. Ash: That's the key! Use non-electric attacks! Pikachu charges and performs a slam attack before Dugtrio can recover. The electric mouse uses the swift attack to daze Dugtrio, then slams him again. Dugtrio gets in an occasional slash at Pikachu, but he faints soon after. Sally: Dugtrio, return! Lorelei: Very impressive, Ash. Ash: Thanks! Sally: Now it's time for round two! (throws a Pokéball) Let's go, Gengar! Ash: Gengar... the ghost Pokémon? Sally: Hypnosis attack! Pikachu falls asleep on the spot. Ash: Pikachu! Sally: Dream eater! Gengar shakes violently, as he psychically steals all of Pikachu's remaining energy. The mouse falls to the ground. Lorelei makes some marks on her clipboard. Ash runs over and picks up Pikachu. He then fishes among his Pokéballs as he tries to decide whom to send out. Ash: Let's see... how about this one? (throws a Pokéball) Lapras, I choose you! Lorelei: (now looking on in interest) A Lapras... interesting. Sally: Don't think that using a Lapras will earn you brownie points! Ash: I pulled out Lapras because she's the perfect Pokémon to take care of your Gengar! Sally: We'll see... Gengar, lick her! Gengar's lick paralyzes Lapras. Ash: Two can play at that game... confuse ray! Gengar is unaffected. Ash gasps in surprise. Sally: Gengar, night shade! Ash: Lapras, ice beam! Both Pokémon trade very powerful hits. In addition, Gengar is frozen solid in an ice block! Ash: Now, finish it with hydro pump! Lapras doesn't get the chance, as Lorelei announces that the ten minutes are up. Lorelei: Time's up. The match is over. Ash: Crud... but I was so close to winning. Sally: It's not about winning, Ash... Ash: I know, I know, it's how you play the game. Lorelei: I'm glad you learned that, Ash... because you passed! Ash: I passed? Really? Yes! I'm one step closer to becoming a Pokémon master! Yippee! Sally: (whispers to Lorelei) He's way too enthusiastic. Maybe we should work on improving that for him. Lorelei: (whispering back) Not me... ask Brock over there to do it. After Ash finishes celebrating, he and Sally see Joy to have their Pokémon healed once more. A little later, Lapras is floating near shore, ready to shove off. Ash, Brock, Sally, and Lorelei are exchanging good-byes. Lorelei: First of all, Ash, I'd like to present you with your new first level membership badge. She takes it out, and hands it to him. Ash: Thanks, Lorelei. Lorelei: (smiling) Well, you earned it. Ash: You know, I hope to battle you some day. Lorelei: (lets out a small giggle) The way you battled today, it might happen sooner than you think. Ash: I hope so. The two look over at Brock and Sally, whose figures are being highlighted by the setting sun. Brock: Must you leave us, Sally? Sally: I have to Brock. I'm competing in the Pokémon League Miners' Tournament next week. It'd be a hassle to travel with you guys to Seaside City and back. Brock: Will I ever see you again? Sally: Someday... after this, I'm heading up to Mandarin Island to do some training with a friend. Then I'll probably check out the new trainers at the Indigo Plateau. [1] Brock: Okay, then we'll see you next month up there? Sally: Sure. Brock: I guess this is goodbye. Sally: Yeah. Suddenly, their eyes meet, and they soon lean close enough for their lips to do the same... Ash: Hey guys, are you done yet? Sally: (blushes) Oh, yeah, sorry. Brock: (blushes) I guess... I mean... um. Lorelei: Don't try to hide it, you two. We know what you were about to do. Ash: We do? Brock, Sally, and Lorelei facefault on the spot. Suddenly, Pikachu tugs at Ash's leg, motioning him to get a move on. Soon, Ash, Brock, and Pikachu sail away from the island on Lapras' back, waving good-bye to Sally and Lorelei. Sally: Good-bye, guys! I'll know we'll meet again! Lorelei: Good luck on your journey! Brock: Let me know when you ladies have a night off! Pikachu thundershocks Brock, but only uses a small spark, so Lapras isn't affected. Ash: (sweatdrops) Sometimes I think you go a little too far, Brock. Brock: Sorry about that. Anyway, if we follow Lorelei's directions, we should reach Seaside City in a day or two. We can then catch the ship to the Indigo Plateau. Ash: Good... it'll be great to be on a big piece of land after all this traveling. Brock: Yeah... and you can see Misty again, too! Ash: Yeah, that too, Brock. (sighs) You know, I never thought I'd actually miss her. Brock: Me neither. Pikachu: Pi pikachu. Ash: Well, she ought to be close to finishing her journey... maybe we can meet her in Viridian City. Brock: Good idea. Onward to Viridian City! Ash: Yeah! Pikachu: Pikachu! (Begin playing "The Time Has Come," seeing flashbacks of the series' best moments) You've helped me find The strength inside And the courage To make all my dreams come true How will I find Another friend Like you The time has come It's for the best I know it Who could've guessed that you and I...
