Adventures Series, Episode 29 (Version 1.1), "Misty's Rival" In this installment, it's the first appearance of another one of my favorite one-shot characters from the anime. Watch out, as sparks might fly between Misty and the newcomer! Disclaimer: Any unrecognizable characters are my property. All others don't belong to me, but to those who created "Pokémon." Author's Note: I apologize for the extreme amount of extras in this part... I am in no mood to introduce any new characters for the remainder of this mini series. ************************************************************************ This chapter opens as Misty is seen talking on a videophone to her sister, Daisy. Daisy: So you've gotten the Volcano Badge? That's great! Misty: Thanks! I can't wait to get my Earth Badge either. Daisy: Glad to here it! I know you'll make us proud... Daisy is interrupted by a loud explosion. She turns around and sees smoke billowing near the main entrance. Misty: What was that? Daisy: Something just blew open the front door... wait, Lily and Violet are over there, cooking dinner! I've got to rescue them! Daisy runs away, but she inadvertently leaves the videophone on so Misty can see what's happening in the gym. She stops just short of the smoke, though, when five men in black Team Rocket uniforms step out. Two of them have her sisters, both unconscious and hanging over their shoulders. Daisy: Lily! Violet! Rocket Member #1: You should be worrying about yourself right now, miss! Rocket Member #2: Now, are you going to surrender peacefully or do we have to rough you up a bit? Daisy: (pulling a Pokéball out of nowhere) How about I send you guys blasting off? She throws the Pokéball and out comes her prize Pokémon, Seaking. Daisy: Ready, Seaking? Rocket Member #3: (steps forward) I'll take care of this one. (throws a Pokéball) Go, Victreebel! The giant plant Pokémon comes out, and in one fell swoop, covers Seaking with his giant mouth. Daisy: Seaking! Victreebel releases his grip, and Seaking is revealed to be unconscious. Daisy: No! Seaking! Rocket Member #4: Is that the best you can do? Rocket Member #5: I knew you three water trainers would be a pushover. The other four members throw out Pokéballs... a Tangela, a Weepinbell, an Ivysaur, and another Victreebel come out. All 5 Rockets: Pokémon, let's wrap these three gorgeous ladies up for the boss! They put down Lily and Violet, and the five Pokémon surround and tie up the three sisters, then drain what's left of their energy. The five Rockets laugh, knowing that their plan has been successful so far. Meanwhile, Misty is watching the whole scene from the videophone. Well, she was... the moment the five Pokémon jumped her sisters, she grabbed Todd and Mikey, and pushed them out the door towards the airport for the first flight to Cerulean City. ************************************************************************ Adventures Series, Season 1 [Episode 29] "Misty's Travels to the Pokémon League" Chapter Twelve: "Misty's Rival" Story written by Freedom Fighter ************************************************************************ Sunday, June 26, Cerulean City Airport Narrator: After capturing a Volcano Badge, Misty decided to spend nearly three months relaxing and exploring the nearby Seafoam Islands. But when she saw the turmoil taking place in her hometown via videophone, she hopped the next flight back home. Of course, things in the city with the mysterious blue aura are not as normal as they usually are. Misty, Todd, and Mikey walk through the airport gates and towards the streets. Misty: This is weird... the airport's usually full this time of day. Todd: Maybe no one's in the mood to travel. Mikey: Or they could be in trouble. Misty: I agree, Mikey. Quick, let's head over to my sisters' gym and see what's going on. Misty leads the two boys down Cerulean City's main street, as she gives them a quick tour. Misty gets a surprise, though, as she discovers that everyone's looking at her. Individual #1: Is she the one? Individual #2: Looks like it. Individual #3: It just has to be... the fourth Sensational Sister! The crowd rejoices, and suddenly surrounds our three heroes. Misty: What's going on here? Individual #1: Oh, thank the stars that you've heard our pleas for help! Individual #2: Team Rocket has taken over the city! Todd: Team Rocket? Again? Individual #3: You've got to help us, oh great water master! Everyone bows down in front of Misty, and she blushes because she can't believe what's going on. Misty: Gee, I'm speechless... I can't believe that I'm the one who's going to save Cerulean City from Team Rocket. Strange Voice: You, save the city? That's a laugh! The whole crowd turns to see a brunette in a female Pokémon Tech uniform about a hundred yards away. Her face is covered by the shadows at the moment. Misty: And why not? Strange Voice: Because you've yet to prove that you've got the skills of a master trainer! Misty: And I suppose you do? Strange Voice: As the valedictorian of the Pokémon Tech expert class, I've shown to my fellow colleagues that I'm one of the world's best in Pokémon training! Misty: Oh yeah? Well, you're going to have to prove that to me, sister! Strange Voice: Misty, I'm surprised you don't remember me... the great Giselle! The crowd gasps for some reason, either because they're surprised that she's here, or because they're a little afraid of her intimidating presence. Misty: Giselle! Of all the arrogant trainers in the world, I had to run into you! Giselle walks through the crowd and stops right in front of Misty. Giselle: Well, arrogance may be my only downside, but I make up for that tenfold thanks to my superb training skills... and my outstanding beauty! She was right; almost every man and boy in the area was drooling over Giselle's figure. Even Todd and Mikey, who had for most of the trip had their attention on Misty. Misty: I'm happy that Ash beat you the last time we met... but it looks like you're still self-conceited, as usual! Giselle: And in the one year that you've been gone, you haven't gotten much prettier, my dear. Tell me, has Ash admitted his feelings for you yet, or are you still trying to find a way to make yourself look attractive? Misty: First off, Ash Ketchum is not my boyfriend! He never was, and he never will be! Second, most men care more about a girl's personality than their looks! Todd: (still admiring Giselle) Speak for yourself, Misty. Misty smacks Todd with her mallet (gee, she hasn't used that in a long time), then turns back towards Giselle. Misty: And third, anything you learned in that rich kids school up the road is nothing compared to what you can learn on the road! Giselle: Is that a challenge, Misty? Misty: You bet! Giselle: Then I accept. You'll soon see, though, that in the end I will be victorious. The crowd forms a circle around the two combatants, as both girls pull out a Pokéball. Misty: Misty calls Poliwrath! Giselle: (doing her pose) Okay then, go Graveler! Before the Pokéballs can hit the ground, though, a Team Rocket member buzzes by and snatches both of them. Misty and Giselle: (simultaneously) Hey! The crowd begins to panic as a legion of Rockets appears on the street. Everyone leaves, with Misty, Giselle, Todd, and Mikey left to face off against a dozen Rockets. Rocket Member #1: Finally, the fourth and final piece of our prize to the boss has arrived! Rocket Member #2: And look, she's got some friends with her! Four members rush Todd, tackling him to the ground, and four more do likewise to Mikey, before he can pull out Eevee's Pokéball. Misty and Giselle look on in surprise, before the remaining four surround the two trainers. Giselle: Same old Team Rocket... they still don't play by the rules. Rocket Member #3: Two points to the brunette. She certainly knows her stuff. Rocket Member #4: (admiring Giselle) You know, she's also kind of cute. (to Rocket Member #3) You think I can make it to first base with her? Misty: (interrupting) Oh, grow up! Anyway, whatever your plan is, Team Rocket, it's not going to work! Rocket Member #5: You think it's not going to work? Rocket Member #6: You're sadly mistaken, Misty Waterflower! Misty gasps at the sound of her name. She and Giselle are now standing with their backs to each other, as the Rockets inch ever closer to them. Rocket Member #7: The boss has been trying for months to get rid of you! Misty: Why me? Rocket Member #8: Because you're one of the Elite Four! Giselle: (points to Misty) Her, a member of the Elite Four? That's a laugh! Rocket Member #9: Not that Elite Four, a different Elite Four. Giselle: (confused) You got me there. Rocket Member #10: (grabbing Giselle's left arm) No, I've got you! Giselle reacts quickly, throwing out her Pokéball without doing her pose. The Pokéball smashes into the face of the Rocket holding her arm, which lets go of her and uses both of his hands to cover it. Her most loyal Pokémon, Cubone, comes out. Cubone: Cubone bone bone! Rocket Member #11: A Cubone? Is she serious? Rocket Member #12: She's going to beat us with a Cubone? All twelve members break out in laughter. Giselle gets angry and orders Cubone to attack. Giselle: Cubone, bonemerang on Team Rocket! Cubone: Cue-boooooonnnnneeeee! The bone club circles around, hitting each member on the side of his head. Cubone catches the bonemerang and prepares to throw it again. Misty pulls out another Pokéball and prepares to join the battle. Misty: (throws her Pokéball) Scyther, go! Scyther: (appearing in front of her) Scyther! Misty: Scyther, slash attack! Scyther went around, slashing their uniforms right across the giant R. Luckily, none of the slashes pierced the skin. The twelve members decide to retreat, so they take off running, dropping the Pokéballs with Poliwrath and Graveler in them down to the ground. Misty: We did it! Hurray! Giselle: (blowing away a lock of hair from her face) That was way too easy. Misty then walks over to check on Todd and Mikey, who are still recovering from their mismatch with the Rockets. Misty: Are you two okay? The two respond by getting up and running over to Giselle. Mikey: That was a great job you did, Giselle! Todd: Forget taking pictures of Pokémon... you mind if I take some pictures of you? Misty: Stop it you two! I lent a hand in the battle too, you know! Todd: But Giselle does it so much better than you do. Misty gets angry and wallops Todd again. Mikey thinks twice before making a comment, and he slowly backs away from Giselle. Giselle: I'll bet that those Rockets will be back... and they'll be very angry. Misty: I know. I say we head to the Pokémon gym. Giselle: (putting her hands on her hips) Why would we want to go to that crappy place? Misty: (yelling at Giselle) Because I live there, my sisters have been kidnapped, and I'd like to get some Pokémon that'll actually help me in battle! Giselle: Oh. Misty storms off mad, as Todd and Mikey crowd around Giselle again. Mikey: What was that all about? Giselle: Beats me. Todd: Maybe it's that time of the month... Misty hears Todd's remark, and turns around to whack Todd yet again. Surprisingly, though, Giselle's already knocked him to the ground. Giselle: This one's on me, Misty. (to Todd) The nerve of you! Mikey: (curiously) What are you guys talking about? Giselle: (points to Mikey) What's with the kid, anyway? Misty: (whispers to Giselle) He's only eight. Giselle: Eight? Misty, are you hanging around with Pokémon trainers, or are you running a tutoring service for elementary school students? Misty: I promised his brothers that he could tag along so he could learn the basics of Pokémon training. Giselle: (gasps) You let them talk you into bringing him along? This kid, who isn't even old enough to have a Pokémon yet, and you drag him along? And you're supposed to be a Pokémon trainer? (laughs) Seven badges, and you're dragging along a kid to who knows where, and you say it's a favor? (gasps again) Come on, you only let him tag along because he has a crush on you! (gasps yet again) You didn't know? You've been traveling with him for a long time and you didn't know that? And you've got seven badges? Giselle laughs again, then looks around to see Misty just one step away from strangling her with her own two hands, while Mikey blushes to her right side, and Todd is getting up from the beating she just gave him. Misty: (trying to hold in her anger) Let's just go, okay? The four of them arrive at the gym, to find it in shambles, but still standing. Misty starts running around, looking for any trace of her sisters or her Pokémon. Misty: Daisy! Lily! Violet! Are you guys here? Giselle: What a dump? I'm afraid I'll get dust all over my dress with all this debris around. Misty: (ticked off) Giselle, either help me look for my sisters, or go back to Pokémon Tech and crawl back into the hole you came from! Giselle: Fine! I know where I'm not wanted! You're on your own against Team Rocket! Misty: That suits me just fine! Giselle marches out of the gym... or what's left of it. Todd and Mikey watch Giselle leave before turning towards Misty, then back to Giselle, back to Misty, and so on for about a minute. The boys finally decide to go after Giselle. Misty: Be that way! Mikey, I'll tell your brothers that you're with Giselle now! And I better not find those birthday pictures of mine on the newsstand next week, Todd! Misty sits down on a chair, and begins to cry. She still can't believe that two of her most trusted companions would leave her for a girl who may be twice as pretty as her, but only half as good when it came to actually battling... at least she thought of it that way. A couple of minutes later, Todd and Mikey watch as Giselle starts to walk out of the city and back towards Pokémon Tech. Todd: Where are you going, Giselle? Giselle: Back to Pokémon Tech, where I'm respected! Mikey: But who's going to help free the city from Team Rocket? Giselle: Why don't you ask your girlfriend, Misty? Mikey stands there, stunned. Todd just watches as Giselle walks up the path, when suddenly, Team Rocket surrounds the area. Once again, the Rockets put down the two boys easily, but this time, Giselle is fighting alone. As if there weren't enough surprises, a thirteenth member, this one in a white Rocket uniform, appears and walks towards Giselle, stopping just out of the reach of her arms. Rocket Member #13: So this is the girl who was bothering you guys earlier? Giselle: The name's Giselle! Besides, someone from Team Rocket could never match my skills in a Pokémon battle. At least now, you'll remember who beat you. Rocket Member #13: Strong words coming from such a beautiful girl. And all for naught! The other twelve members throw out Pokéballs, as a huge range of types and sizes appear. Some of them surround Todd and Mikey, while the others stand around Giselle and the thirteenth guy. Rocket Member #13: Okay, Giselle, if you tell me what I want to know, then you'll get off without any trouble... simple as that. Giselle: And that is? Rocket Member #13: Where is Misty Waterflower? Giselle: Like I'd tell you. Besides, I already know you'd do something bad to her. Rocket Member #13: You're right about that. He nods as two Machop appear and start to throw punches towards Giselle. She dodges some of them, but the two Pokémon are too fast, and one black eye later, she's on the ground, panting heavily. The thirteenth member walks over and picks Giselle off the floor. Rocket Member #13: Are you going to tell us what we need to know? Giselle: (spits in his face) Never! Not in a million years! Rocket Member #13: In that case, kill her! The Pokémon step back as the other twelve Rockets pull out what appear to be small laser rifles, and they begin to close in on Giselle. While all of this is going on, Misty is still back in the gym, crying her eyes out. Misty: Oh, why can't I ever get a break when I need one? Things never seem to go my way... A Pokémon then appears in front of Misty. She recognizes it as one of her own, but something is terribly wrong. The Pokémon begins to approach Misty, waving its arms strangely. Misty is about to scream when she hears one from outside. Misty: Giselle! I'd recognize that scream anywhere! As Misty runs towards the entrance, the roof caves in and comes down on Misty and the unsuspecting Pokémon. When the smoke clears, neither Misty nor the Pokémon can be found among the remains of the Cerulean City Pokémon gym. ************************************************************************ A few seconds later, Misty appears outside the gym, unharmed, with Togepi in her arms. Misty: Togepi! What did you do to the gym? My sisters are going to kill me! Togepi: (pointing towards the rubble) Toge toge! A Beedrill digs himself out, and then turns towards Misty and Togepi, preparing to attack. Misty: Aaaaaaahhhhhhhh! I hate bugs! Why did it have to be a Beedrill? Togepi then begins to wave her arms like she did before. This time, an explosion rocks the area. Beedrill is knocked out instantly. Misty: Wow, Togepi, you've learned two moves in one day! First, teleport, and now this! You must be more powerful than you look. Togepi: (happy) Togeprrrriiiiii! Their celebration is interrupted when Giselle's screams fill the air once again. Misty: There's that scream again! It's gotta be Giselle. I've got to help her... even though she probably doesn't deserve it. It doesn't take long for Misty to arrive where the ambush took place. She sees the twelve Rockets guarding Todd and Mikey, while the thirteenth, which seems to be the leader, is holding Giselle prisoner. Giselle still has the black eye from earlier, and is a little out of breath, but is otherwise fine. Misty: Todd! Mikey! Giselle! Are you okay? Giselle: Does it look like I'm okay? Misty: Guess not. You're lucky I could hear you scream a mile away. Giselle: Misty, that wasn't me! Misty: Then who? Rocket Member #13: Actually, those were the screams of someone very close to you... three close someones, in fact. Misty: My sisters? You let them go this instant! Rocket Member #13: I'm afraid not. I've grown quite attached to them. They'll pay for not going out with me the last time! Misty: (to herself) That voice... it sounds familiar... (Flashback, "Misty's Travels to the Pokémon League," Chapter 2) [1] Biff: Did you win the Cascade Badge from your sisters? Misty: That's where I just came from. They were easy to beat. Biff: Serves those three right, refusing to go out on a date with me. They ought be hanged and thrown in the river. (End flashback) Misty: It can't be... but Officer Jenny locked you up months ago! Rocket Member #13: I escaped. Misty: Biff... how dare you try your dirty tricks again! Biff: I'm flattered, Misty. You know, I'm still mad that Duplica got away. (points to Giselle) Then again, this one here will satisfy my craving. Giselle: You wouldn't dare... unless you really want a new way to feel pain! Misty: Let Giselle go, Biff! This is just between you and me! Biff: Not exactly. As you've probably realized by now, I don't wear this uniform for sport. I am now a member of Team Rocket! And my job is to destroy you! You're part of the Elite Four! Giselle: Misty, what in the blazes is this Elite Four this joker keeps talking about? Misty: I have no idea. What I'm certain of, though, is that Biff here isn't going to hurt anyone else! Biff: We'll see about that! Team Rocket, attack! The twelve men pull their laser rifles out again, and they walk away from Todd and Mikey, beginning to move towards Misty. Misty: (thinking) I'm totally outmatched here! What do I do? Togepi starts waving her arms once again, and Misty's Pokédex begins to beep wildly. She puts Togepi down and checks her Pokédex. Pokédex: Metronome, Togepi's second attack. This powerful psychic move is still under study by researchers, but it has been rumored that it results in a giant explosion that usually knocks out the opponent. Misty: Okay then, Togepi, metronome! All 12 Rockets: Huh? A bright light shines, and all of them are sent flying to the ground. Misty then walks over to Todd and Mikey and wakes them up. Misty: Todd! Mikey! Are you two all right? Todd: I'll be fine... once I get rid of this headache. Mikey: Misty, the Rockets are coming again. Misty: (throwing two Pokéballs) This will stop them! Misty calls Vaporeon and Scyther! Todd: Wow! This will make a great shot! Now, where's my camera? Misty: Vaporeon, aurora beam! Scyther, use your slash attack against the other half! They do so, and half end up frozen, while the others run to keep from being cut into pieces. Misty looks back and sees Biff dragging Giselle away, kicking and screaming, for that matter. She hands Togepi over to Mikey. Misty: Mikey, watch Togepi for me. I've got some business to take care of. Todd: Where are you going, Misty? Misty: To kick some butt! Make sure Vaporeon and Scyther keep the Rockets busy. She throws him their Pokéballs, then runs off after Biff and Giselle. Todd: (yelling after her) Wait, Misty! I'm a photographer, not a trainer! Misty runs down the desolate Route 9, and towards the Rock Tunnel, where she hears the screams getting louder. Misty: Hang on! I'm coming guys! Unknown to her, Daisy, Violet, Lily, and Giselle aren't Biff's only guests. Scene changes to a dungeon room, where Misty's sisters, along with Officer Jenny and Nurse Joy, are chained to the wall. Biff begins to do the same with Giselle, who's kicking him in the face constantly, but also trying to keep her skirt from flying too high. Giselle already knows of Biff's intentions, and she doesn't want him to get any ideas. Biff: Stop it! Your kicking will only wet my appetite more! Giselle: You're such a pervert! Why can't you just charm a girl the right way? Daisy: Because he's a cheapskate who can't respect a girl's wishes! Violet: Can't you find another way to a girl's heart other than kidnapping her and forcing her to love you? Lily: That's so, like, prehistoric. Biff: Shut up! No one told you three you could talk! Jenny: Biff, when I get my hands on you, you'll be locked up for so long that it won't matter whether or not you have a girl! Biff: Why don't you get a life, Officer Jenny! Jenny: Because you won't let me live a free one, Biff! Biff finishes locking Giselle's restraints, but not before receiving another boot to the face. Biff: Ouch! You'd better watch yourself, or you'll be the first to go! Giselle: (pretending to pout) I'm so scared. Not! Biff: (glaring at her seriously) You won't be laughing once I turn you all into my personal harem! Jenny: Harem? Giselle: (sarcastically) Yeah, right! Daisy: If you honestly think we'd be your servants... Violet: Then you've got another thing coming! Biff: Sure, humor me. Like I said, once the boss gets here, you'll all be in big trouble. He then notices that Joy is sitting silently in the corner. He walks over towards her. Biff: What's the matter? You don't have anything to say about this? Joy: All I care about is getting back to the one job I truly love... caring for Pokémon. Biff: News flash, Nurse Joy! You're never going back! Misty: (yelling as she approaches the room) Biff! Get out here and prove you're a man! I challenge you to a Pokémon battle! Biff: Looks like the little girl has finally arrived. (turns to Joy one last time) Want to be my first victim tonight, honey? Joy responds swiftly... with a kick in the stomach. Biff reels back, holding his stomach, but for some reason, he laughs it off. Biff: Sure, play the innocent one, Joy. (points to her as he leaves) You'll be the first one! You'll be the first one! He leaves the room. All of the girls glance at Joy. Jenny: (in a curious tone) You've never been in a hostage situation before, have you? Joy: No. Am I supposed to act in a certain way? They all give mixed reactions, unsure how to respond to Joy's question. Outside, Biff stands directly across the room from Misty, who's now really angry. Biff: Misty, nice of you to drop by. Do you like what I did to the Rock Tunnel? Misty: (ignoring Biff's chatter) Where's Giselle? And my sisters? Biff: Don't worry, they'll be fine. Besides, they have some company. He opens the door, and Misty gasps as she sees Officer Jenny and Nurse Joy in the room with Giselle and her sisters. Misty: How could you? Biff: What can I say... the girls are attracted to me! Giselle: I wouldn't be attracted to you if you were the last man on Earth! Biff: Is that so? Biff walks over, and unlocks Giselle's chains. Giselle thinks about beating up Biff right there and then, but she has second thoughts. Biff: (walking away) You're probably wondering why I released you. Giselle: Okay, why? Biff: Because (pointing at Misty) I want you to battle her. Misty and Giselle: (simultaneously) What? Lily: Why would she anyway? Biff: (walks over and grabs Giselle's arms) If the little bunny here is smart, she won't try anything stupid. (turns to Misty) Let's make a deal. Misty: Why should I trust you? You tricked Duplica, you're part of Team Rocket, and I'm supposed to trust you? Don't make me laugh! Giselle: You tell 'em, Misty! Biff: You had to ask, didn't you? Biff temporarily pushes Giselle aside, throws a Pokéball inside the room, then closes it. Misty and Giselle watch through the door's window as a Primeape comes out. Misty: A Primeape! Giselle: You sick monster! Biff: I know. Primeape will have some fun beating up the five of them. (looks at Misty and Giselle) Meanwhile, I'll have some fun with you two. The entrance behind Misty slams shut. Biff then grabs Giselle and brings her over next to Misty. Biff: Okay, ladies, I'm willing to let you go once the boss is done with you, but first, you've got to go on a date with me! Giselle: You? Never! Not even in my afterlife! Misty: The same here! Biff: Well... I guess I'll just have to settle for watching you two battle. Misty: Biff, why make Giselle fight against me when you can fight me one-on one? Giselle: Who says I don't want to fight you, Misty? Misty: Huh? Giselle: I'm anxious to finish that battle from earlier. Biff: See, Giselle wants to fight. Why don't you, Misty? Misty: Giselle! This isn't the time for that! Biff: No, go on and fight. Besides, you're both going to be mine anyway, so you might as well make the best of your freedom while you can. Giselle: (whispering to Misty) Misty, trust me on this. There's nothing we can do right now but play along. Misty: (whispering back) But what about... Giselle: (still whispering) Trust me, they'll be fine. Just like we'll be. Biff: Girls, I'm waiting! Misty: Okay then, let's get started! Giselle: I'm with you, Misty! Prepare to meet your doom, because I choose Paras! Paras: (coming out) Paras paras! Misty: A Paras, huh? Piece of cake... go, Poliwrath! Poliwrath comes out of her Pokéball, determined to win. Misty: Poliwrath, water gun! Poliwrath fires and connects, but Paras doesn't seem to be affected by the water. Misty: What? Giselle: Now come on, Misty, since when did you ever find me at a disadvantage in a Pokémon battle? Biff: Most impressive, Giselle. Giselle: (ignoring Biff) Paras, stun spore! Poliwrath leaps to the side to dodge the attack. Misty: Poliwrath, body slam! Giselle: Paras, slash it now! Paras works quickly and slashes Poliwrath right across her body. Poliwrath stops in mid-attack, feeling the pain over her chest. Poliwrath then falls to the ground, unable to battle any more. Misty: Poliwrath! Giselle: You haven't improved any, Misty. I'm shocked... not! Misty: Poliwrath, return! Misty calls Golduck! Golduck: Golduck! Giselle: A Golduck? Very impressive... but still not enough. Paras, spore attack! Misty: Golduck, disable! Paras blinks all of a sudden, and does not release the spore at all. Giselle: Paras! Dang, I can't believe that worked! Misty: Golduck, fury swipes! Golduck: Duck duck duck duck golduck! Golduck hits Paras several times, causing the small Pokémon to faint. Biff: Looks like Misty's got a few aces up her sleeve as well. Oh wait, you don't have a sleeve. (gets a curious look) Where else could you be hiding a trick like that? Misty: How dare you! Golduck, attack him now! Golduck: Duck! Biff: Not so fast. (throws a Pokéball) Arbok, go! Arbok: Charrr-bok! Giselle: (throwing a Pokéball) Cubone, go! Bone club! Cubone comes out and clobbers Arbok on the side of his head. He then turns to Golduck. Giselle: Biff, stay out of this! This is between me and Misty! Golduck then rams his head right into Cubone's stomach, as the Pokémon reels back. Giselle: Hey! Misty: We're still in battle, remember? Golduck, hydro pump! Giselle: Cubone, let's show them the new move you learned the other day. Rage attack! The two Pokémon fight with all of their strength. Cubone pushes forward, moving to one side after getting hit by the water, only to be hit again. Soon the two Pokémon were face-to-face. Then, a Scyther bursts into the dungeon from above. He flies in, and begins to attack Biff. Biff: Aaaaahhhhhh! Get this thing away from me! Misty: Scyther! Suddenly, the door to the holding cell opens, and Primeape comes flying out, hitting Biff on the chin, and knocking them both out. Officer Jenny leads the others out, with her Growlithe next to her. Jenny: Biff won't be picking on anybody for a long time. Misty: Officer Jenny? How did you all get out? Jenny: An officer can't work with handcuffs unless she knows how to get out of them. Giselle: Then why didn't you free yourselves earlier? Lily: We didn't think we could escape, with all of the Rockets around. Misty: Good point. (turns to Giselle) Ready to finish this match, Giselle? Giselle: You bet. Jenny: Oh no, you two. You know Pokémon can't be used for personal fights! Misty: But this isn't a personal fight! Giselle: We were just... Jenny: You heard me, girls. Misty: (sighs, then pulls out some Pokéballs) Golduck, Scyther, return! Giselle: Geese, now I wish I were back at Pokémon Tech. Jenny: (glares at her) You too, young lady! Giselle: (pulling out Cubone's Pokéball) Okay, Cubone, return. Good job, as usual. Officer Jenny managed to find the switch Biff had pulled earlier, and all seven ladies escape from the Rock Tunnel, pulling the unconscious Biff along. Todd, Mikey, Vaporeon, and Eevee greet them at the entrance. They point Officer Jenny to the other Rockets, and with some help, they all get them into the local prison. After Daisy had called some Pokémon League officials to come down and help rebuild the gym, Misty left Togepi with her and her sisters and then departed for Viridian City. At the outskirts of the city, Misty and the gang had to say goodbye to Giselle. Misty: It's too bad we didn't get to finish our battle. Giselle: Yeah. I'd battle now; only I have to be back at the school tonight to finish some homework. Misty does something uncharacteristic... she walks over and hugs Giselle. Giselle pushes Misty aside. Giselle: What'd you do that for? Misty: I thought we could become friends. Giselle: Misty, you know that can never happen between us. We're two trainers of different kinds. You're getting the eight gym badges; I'm graduating from Pokémon Tech next month. Seeing that we could both be in the Pokémon League this summer, you have to understand... Misty: That makes us rivals. I understand. Giselle: Okay, now that that's settled... She points to Todd and Mikey, still looking at her with hearts in their eyes. Giselle: Get these two dorks away from me! Misty: (smiles, then starts to drag them down the road) With pleasure. Narrator: And so, with the Team Rocket threat disposed of, Misty now heads towards Viridian City, and the most dangerous gym around. The question is, can she fulfill her dream and get to the Pokémon League? Will Misty see Giselle again in competition? The answers are shrouded in mystery, until the day they will finally be revealed. Meanwhile... Scene changes to Cinnabar Island, where Jessie, James, and Persian are trying to find a way back to the mainland. Jessie: Be careful, you two! The rocks here are very sharp! James trips over one, and suddenly two golden Pokéballs starting roll down the hill and they open up... revealing Articuno and Moltres! Persian: The legendary birds are loose! Jessie: James, you idiot! The two birds fly away, as Jessie picks up the Master Balls and tries to recall them, but to no avail. Jessie: James, of all of the nitwitted things you do, you decide now to screw up? Persian: I really thought we were going to get on the boss's good side for once... and it all slipped out of our paws! Jessie: You mean hands, Persian. Persian: For me, it's paws. James: Sorry. I didn't mean to. Jessie: What are we supposed to tell the boss? Suddenly, they hear a ringing sound. Jessie pulls out her laptop videophone (who knows where she hides that thing) and punches a few buttons on it. Giovanni's face appears, partially covered by the shadows. The three of them cower in fear. Giovanni: Status report. Jessie: Everything's fine, boss! Giovanni: Do you have all three birds now? James: Um... Jessie: (covering James' mouth) Of course! Do you doubt us? Persian: Team Rocket never fails to complete a mission! Giovanni: I certainly hope you have succeeded... failure is not acceptable! Jessie, James, and Persian: Yes sir! Giovanni: Wait... Persian, you've evolved? Persian: (bows his head) Yes, sir. Giovanni: Very good then. I want you three to come to home base to help take care of some expected visitors. James: Who? Giovanni: You'll see. Giovanni out. His face disappears from the videophone screen. Jessie puts it back into the storage. James: Why didn't you tell him the truth? Jessie: Because I don't want to end up dead in the morning! Persian: You ever realize that if the boss finds out we lost all three, he'll kill us on the spot! James: I know... but what happens when he does find out? Jessie: Don't worry, he won't, as long as we track down those birds before he finds out. Persian: Well, we'd better get started... this could take some time. The three begin to walk towards the docks. Jessie, James, and Persian: (simultaneously) Looks like Team Rocket's walking off into the sunset... again! To be continued... Author's Note: [1] That's back in Episode 3 of this series.
